Abstract

268,210. Scott, J. A., and Lanston Monotype Corporation, Ltd. Aug. 14, 1926. Single - type casting machines. - Relates to matrix centring or clamping mechanism for machines such as that described in Specification 8633/99. The centring-pin 5 is operated by a lever 4 through two comparatively long springs B, which are connected at their upper ends to a cross-bar C adjustably secured to a rod D, which bears upon the upper end of the pin 5. The lower ends of the springs are attached to arms on a collar A, which slides upon the pin 5, and upon which the operating-lever 4 bears. The force of the springs may be altered by exchanging the rod D, or by varying its effective length. The rod D may form an adjustable extension of the pin 5.
