Abstract

262,749. Townsend, H. E. Dec. 9, 1925, [Convention date]. Packing confectionery and like articles.- Packages of confectionery are made by applying a sheet 4, Fig. 5, of waxed paper to the articles 2, preferably so that it encircles the articles. rather more than two complete turns. The ends are closed by tucks 6, 8, 10, 12, and an outer sheet 18 Fig. 8 of foil is wrapped one turn and a quarter round the package and the ends similarly closed, the folds at the end of the foil wrapping being independent of the folds at the end of the waxed paper wrapping. Heat is then applied to the external surface of the package to melt the wax of the inner wrapper, and adhesion is assured by rolling and pressing. The heat may be applied only to the ends and to the longitudinal seam. In a modification, Fig. 10, a rectangular article such a box 19 is enclosed in a waxed wrapper 20 and the ends folded in. A second wrapper 22 is then applied and the whole secured by heat and pressure.
