Abstract

An independently stable exercise bike 1 that travels forwards at extremely low velocity by virtue of a direct down-geared chain 2 drivetrain and flywheel to a rear pair of wheels 4 from the pedal cranks 3. As the bike is not static, provides real feed-back to the rider on progress and allows 'racing' with other bikes over a compact circuit in group or gm usage. The bike may have three or four wheels, a braking system, suspension and/or adjustable handlebars. The bike may have a data screen showing distance travelled, with data connectivity and group sharing. The down-gearing may be so extreme that a very fit person pedalling at a cadence of 75 revs I min will travel only around one meter per minute.

SPECIFICATION.
Title: HITT 'Creeper' Exercise Bike The traditional home or gym based exercise bike is static with feed back to the user is provided by pseudo data via screens or clocks for speed, distance travelled and other information.
Statement of Invention.
This invention changes the concept of a static exercise bike by including extremely low velocity forward travel. This is supplied via a direct down-geared chain drive-train to the rear pair of wheels from the pedal cranks. The down-gearing is so extreme that a very fit person pedalling at a cadence of 75 revs / min will travel only around am / minute and be exhausted in around 5 minutes at maximum effort. This feature provides real feed-back to the rider on progress and allows 'racing' with other bikes over a compact circuit. Stability is provided by a 2 x 2, front and rear wheel configuration.
Features Traditional seat, handlebar and pedal configuration. 2 x 2 wheel pairs; drive wheel rear, steering forward. Down-gearing mechanism including flywheel. Safety meshes.

CLAIMSTitle: HITT 'Creeper' Exercise Bike 1 An independently stable exercise bike conceived for individual personal, group or gym usage that rather than being static is engineered to travel forward at extremely low velocity by virtue of a direct down-geared chain drive-train and flywheel to the rear pair of wheels from the pedal cranks.
  2. 2 An exercise bike as Claim 1 that may or may not include a 4 or 3 wheeled configuration 3 An exercise bike as Claim 1 that may or may not include a robust chassis framework of polymer, aluminium, reinforced carbon-carbon composites, or steel materials or combinations of.4 An exercise bike as Claim 1 that may or may not include a braking system An exercise bike as Claim 1 that may or may not include suspension in the form of springs, torsion bars, or intrinsically designed frame flexibility either applied individually or in combination.6 An exercise bike as Claim 1 that may or may not include adjustment to the handlebar height and reach.7 An exercise bike as Claim 1 that may or may not include local feature lighting linked to movement.8 An exercise bike as Claim 1 that may or may not include a means of manually repositioning of the unit without going through the fixed gearing.9 An exercise bike as Claim 1 that may or may not include data screen feed-back showing distance travelled, elapsed time, countdown time, cadence, calculated calories or personalised cumulative historical data linked to user ID either individually or in combination.An exercise bike as Claim 9 that may or may not include personal data connectivity using direct wiring, the internet, Bluetooth individually or in combination to a riders own data screen device.11 An exercise bike as Claim 9 that may or may not include data connectivity using direct wiring, the internet, Bluetooth individually or in combination to a group sharing information screen such as an overhead TV screen.
