Abstract

Displaying simultaneously 305 a plurality of field elements, each indicative of a field of data, in association with a plurality of visualisation elements, each representative of a visualisation scheme against which to plot data; selecting, in response to a user’s choice of visualisation element, a field of data and a visualisation scheme 307; and displaying data plotted based on the visualisation scheme 309. The virtual environment may be an augmented, virtual, or mixed-reality space. A user may choose a second field element indicative of a second field of data, a second visualisation scheme may automatically be selected based on a characteristic of the field of data. The device may comprise a hand tracking device and gesture detection module to detect user intentions by identifying hand gestures 311. The device may respond to the detection of hand gestures by modifying the displayed data 313, for example: adjusting the axis, panning, resizing, translation the displayed information. The visualisation schemes may be a variety of graphs or charts (Fig.5A-C).
