Abstract

A method of routing a call comprising the steps of: receiving an outbound call transmission; analysing the call transmission to determine a type of call endpoint for the call; and routing the call according to the call endpoint type. Also disclosed is a system for routing calls comprising: a first interface for communicating with a private or internal telephone system; a second interface for communicating with a Public telephone system; a third interface for communicating with the internet; a processor; and memory storing computer readable instructions that cause the processor to: receive an outgoing call from the private or internal telephone system through the first interface; analyse the call to determine a type of call endpoint for the call; and route the call to the second or third interface depending on the determined call endpoint type. The determined call endpoint type is: a VOIP call, a mobile application client, or a PSTN telephone number or any other endpoint type.

Description

VOIP HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
Voneus sought to address the technical challenge of providing a comprehensive set of services, at an affordable price and able to be installed with no prior technical knowledge to existing legacy PABX users. Basically to bring the technical advances of VoIP to non-VoIP installations at minimal costs and without the need to rip and replace existing equipment. In addition to provide a new set of additional features not found elsewhere.
The Voneus 123 system provides not only more features than provided by similar systems such as Vonage, Sangoma, Cisco etc. but uniquely does not require technical expertise to implement. It also does not require existing equipment to be removed or replaced. All other offerings currently available either require new equipment and or experienced technicians to install / configure.
Voneus 123 brings a new lease of life to legacy equipment whilst adding a host of new features.
The advantages of Voneus 123 are: • Extends life of existing hardware • User installed and configured • Fit and forget • Solid state technology so no noise or moving parts • Unique bespoke hardware and bespoke software combination • Designed with inbuilt high level security • Enables access to Voneus Eco System • Reduces costs
Voneus 123 does this by interrogating the outbound traffic from the users existing equipment and intelligently deciding on the routing of the traffic which can be: • To another Voneus endpoint in which case the software identifies the number being called as another Voneus endpoint and generates a security key which will be sent to the "Director" (a central indices of Voneus endpoints) which asks the other endpoint if it wishes to accept the call, that endpoint then also generates a security key and the keys are swopped and a secure connection made. This is unique in simple VoIP handling. • To a Voneus Trybe client or mobile application, in which case the software will identify the number being called as a Trybe client and will direct the call as a direct VoIP call even though the end user will be using a mobile phone. Effectively making the call free of charge. • To a standard PSTN telephone number or other public telephone system number in which case the software identifies a least cost routing option which may be via VoIP to the nearest "exchange point" that will then route the call over the "last mile" at a local rate. • To a standard VoIP endpoint in which case the software routes via the available VoIP connection.
Once the software has intelligently decided on the routing the call is then reinjected into the line and the connection made. Preferably, all the above happens in milliseconds and the caller is unaware of any difference to the system they have been using. There are no codes to inject or need for any new numbers the Voneus 123 intercepts the outgoing call, interrogates it and directs it accordingly.
Voneus 123 is part of the Voneus Eco System and utilises the web based portal Voneus Manage for installation and configuration. This system allows all Voneus end points to connect and wherever possible without any cost whatsoever.
Voneus Manage links to billing systems, software management tools etc.
The "Director" which is basically the software that manages the actual connections sits within the software stack within the Voneus 123, within Trybe and within Voneus Home.
Voneus 123 is the first product that takes all these different technical abilities, combines them all in a simple offering and overlays an additional security layer.
The unique bit is the hardware / original software / security combination that is not available elsewhere.
The Director operates by allowing any legacy / existing system to process its output in the normal way and then intercepting this output before it actually goes anywhere. This output is then intelligently interrogated by the Voneus software. Both the type of output and type of destination are identified. The software then makes an initial decision on routing; • if the call is destined for a Trybe client then the software would check the Trybe endpoint is valid and available. It would then generate a security key as would the Trybe endpoint and once the keys were validated by the software would route the call over VoIP. • If the Trybe client was not available orthe key was not validated it would route the call by least cost routing. • If the call was destined for another Voneus 123 endpoint then the software would check the end points validity and availability. It would then generate a security key as would the Trybe endpoint and once the keys were validated by the software would route the call over VoIP. • If the end point was not available or the key not validated it would route the call by least cost routing. • If the call was destined for a non Voneus endpoint it would route the call by least cost routing.
Least cost routing is where the call is transmitted over VoIP for as far as possible only breaking out onto the PSTN (Public Switch Telephone Network) at the very last point.
All this interrogation and endpoint checking has been designed to be undertaken in milliseconds in order that the user experiences no difference to making a normal call.
No special dial plans or codes are needed by the user who continues to use the existing as before. Voneus 123 is not visible to the user and requires no change of practice, training or new handheld equipment unlike other offerings.
Voneus 123 intelligently packages the output such that it is possible to hold high quality calls on ordinary smartphones via a satellite broadband connection or other internet connections.
