Abstract
252,849. Bach, C. H., and Howard, W. F. April 24, 1925. Wind-screens.-Relates to wind-screens for the rear seats of motor vehicles of the kind in which an adjustment towards or away from the occupants is effected by mounting the screen on a pair of sleeves 7<a> slidable on rods 8 pivoted in brackets 12 near the sides of the front seat 9, the rods 8 overlapping at the centre when the screen is pushed forwardly previous to being folded down adjacent to the front seat. In order to permit the rods 8 to lie substantially parallel to one another and to the screen in its non-extended or folded position, Fig. 4, one or both of the rods are cranked at 8<a>, 8<b> near their points of support, in the arrangement shown the throw of the crank 8<a> being greater than that of the crank 8<b>. Instead of arranging the rods to lie in the same horizontal plane when the screen is folded, the cranks may be disposed so that the rods lie vertically one above the other. Rubber buffers 8<d> are fitted at the free ends of the rods to prevent damage to the screen and rods. The screen may be adjusted to an horizontal position to serve as a table.
