Abstract

A cover for a manhole or drain inspection chamber resides on a peripheral frame provided around the manhole. The cover includes two through-holes, with a trapped internally threaded nut FIG A provided in each hole. To lift the cover, a respective lifting key FIG 7 in the form of an elongate, cranked screw is screwed through each hole. Upon passing through the bottom of the hole the keys locate in a dimple FIG 4 in the peripheral frame, and continued turning of the keys causes the cover to be driven up the length of the keys. When clear of the manhole frame, wheeled skates are inserted under the edge of the cover to support the cover at or near a first one of the through-holes, and the corresponding first key is unscrewed to lower the edge of the cover onto the skate. The cover can then be pivoted away from the manhole using the second key as an axis.

Description

The Easy lift drain (ifting mechanism.
DescrlDtion What is the easy lift drain lifting mechanism? Fig A This is a fabricated section that will fit into a new or existing recess manhole cover. Thts will allow the trades man or end user to Hit the drain with out any manual lifting, this preventing a bad back; it also fi on its own frame so the surrounding ground does no! move. Ihe spitting of the two units that could be fretted in is no problem due to the system. Fig 2 lntroductn lifting a man whole bayer is a great problem at times, dirt, salt, corrosion, causes the cover to stick ft the ground.
There Is no system in the world the same as the Easy lift mechanism.
Extensive market research with contact with block pathers, builders and the construction industry has shown that going for a patent is correct as there is no other syskem using the easy lift fabrication to oet manhole cover out of the ground.
WSlsituseclthr A mn w$xAe cover is used for inspection maintenance of drains, communication BI TV 9adio, water, gas, in fact all services.
Md again the biggest problem Is lifting thsm out of the ground. Using the easy lift system solves the problem of jamming and manual lifting.
1-low important ii ttis product Sales companies seHin9 covers can now give a duty of cars to there installers, buidGrs and end us&t.
Utility companies can give a duty of care to there work force The easy ljtt drain Rd rernoval.svsteffl The patent we ars looking for is the mechanism of removing the lid of a man whole cover with out manual lifting and disturbing the surrounding ground. This Is also a one nian operaflon.
A 10mm threaded bar with handle for turning and a tapered machined end with a 45 Deg point enteiin the ldcétion. Fig 6 The location is a 20mm box section with an indentation tocation for a 30mm machined nut.
This has to be tilted 30 mm from base and locates in ilne to 8mm dimple. Fig 4 This is done both ends of the Lid.
Rotating both keys fig 7 the cover raises, lifting on Its own base the surrounding grourd Is stable.
The comblriation of the nut screw.dimjie throw the square base is the method That attows the LkS to be removed.
This system can be fitted to most man wfioie cover that is made.
At the point of clearance two skates Fig 5 can be slotted In to aliow access to th drain by ittathig t.

Th Technical Features The easy lift drain system is a Mbriuaflon and a asssrnble of several parts machined and Ided that f in a new drain cover or an existing unit as a retro fit.
Using a 10mm Nut thread 30mm long (fig 1) gives great sffength, similar to lifling a car to change a wheel.
