Abstract

A fitted sheet has press fastener attachments to keep bed covers in place. Bed covers can be attached to the fitted sheet with press fasteners. Additional bed cover layers can be attached to the existing bed cover with press fasteners, requiring press fastener attachments to both top and bottom sides of the bed cover. These bed covers can also be rolled up and held in place due to the press fasteners on both sides when there is excess material. Hook and loop fasteners or buttons may alternatively be used. .

Description

Baby Bedding.
This invention relates to baby bedding that stays in place while a baby sleeps.
When babies use traditional bedding with loose bed covers they are able to pull the covers over their head, wriggle down under the covers, kick the covers off or become entangled in covers -this can result in the baby becoming too hot or too cold or having difficulty breathing. When babies use baby sleeping bags layers cannot be added or removed so the sleeping bag must be changed if the temperature rises or falls -this causes disturbance to the babies sleep.
To overcome this, the present invention uses an attachment, preferably press fasteners to keep babies bedding in place while they sleep, and has the option of adding additional layers that also stay in place with press fasteners.
The press fasteners will ensure the covers cannot be kicked off or pulled over a babies head, and will also allow the covers to be positioned so that the baby cannot wiggle down underneath them. The positioning of the press fasteners will allow the covers to be repositioned as the baby grows while also keeping any excess lengths of cover secured in place.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: * figure 1 shows a press fastener stud and eye, * figure 2 shows a fitted sheet, * figure 3 shows the underneath of a bed cover, * figure 4 shows the top side of a bed cover, * figure 5 shows a bed cover on the fitted sheet, * figure 6 shows a side view of the bed cover on the fitted sheet, * figure 7 shows a bed cover positioned lower on the fitted sheet with the excess bed cover rolled up, * figure 8 shows 2 bed covers on the fitted sheet, * figure 9 shows 2 bed covers positioned lower on the fitted sheet with the excess bed cover rolled up.
The eyes of press fasteners(2)(Figure 1) are equally spaced down both lengths -the longest sides-of a fitted sheet(3)(Figure 2).
The underneath side of a bed cover(4) -such as a sheet or cellular blanket-has the stud (1)(Figure 1) of press fasteners equally spaced down the length of each side of the cover. The press fastener studs are positioned towards the edges on both lengths of the cover(Figure 3).
The top side of a bed cover(4) has the eye (2) of press fasteners equally spaced down both lengths of the cover. The press fastener eyes are positioned towards the edges on the length of the cover(Figure 4).
The cover (4) can be attached to the fitted sheet (3) by fastening the press fastener studs (1) from the underneath of the covers to the press fastener eyes (2) on the fitted sheet(Figures 5 & 6). This allows for the baby to remain under the bed covers without pulling the covers over their face or the covers becoming loose and falling off.
To reduce the risk of wiggling under the covers, babies should sleep with their feet to the foot of the cot or Moses basket with the covers no higher than their neck. To allow for this to happen the covers should be adjusted to the right position by attaching the cover studs lower down on the fitted sheet eyes(Figure 7).
Positioning the covers lower down will create an excess of cover at the bottom of the cot or Moses basket. This excess can be rolled up (5) and safely held in position by attaching the press fastener studs from the underside of the covers to the press fastener eyes on the top side of the covers(6)(Figure 7).
Additional covers (4.1) can also be added to the existing covers by attaching the press fastener studs (1) from the underside of the additional covers to the press fastener eyes (2) on the existing covers(4)(Figure 8). This can be repeated with as many additional covers as needed.
While the additional covers are in place, the covers can still be positioned lower, with the excess rolled up (5) and fastened in place (6) using the stud from the cover (4) to attach to the eye on the additional cover (4.1)(Figure 9).
Press fasteners are the preferred form of attachment means for the Baby Bedding. However Velcro or buttons can also be used as the attachment means in place of the press fasteners.

Claims (10)

  1. Claims 1. A fitted sheet comprising attachment means down the edges of both entire lengths of the fitted sheet to attach to a bed cover comprising attachment means down the edges of both entire lengths of the bed cover.
  2. 2. Bed covers as claimed in Claim ito comprise attachment means on the edges of both the top side and underside of both entire lengths of the bed cover so that additional covers of the same design may be attached on top of one another.
  3. 3. Where the attachment means on the fitted sheet and bed covers as claimed in Claims 1-2 are evenly spaced to allow the bed covers to have the ability to attach to multiple positions on the fitted sheet.
  4. 4. Where the evenly spaced attachment means on the bed covers as claimed in Claim 3 allow the bed covers to roll up and attach to themselves holding the roll of bed cover in place.
  5. 5. Where the attachment means claimed in Claims 1-4 are press fasteners.
  6. 6. When the attachment means claimed in Claims 1-4 is Velcro.
