Abstract

A device for making stringing or re-stringing of musical stringed instruments, such as guitars, easier comprises a locking device through which a string to be threaded. The locking device, which is preferably in the shape of a hollow sleeve, is then inserted within the transverse hole of a string tuning post at the head of the instrument. The device may include means such as chamfered edges (1) for gripping the string, and means (3) for creating a friction fit between the device and tuning post hole. Ideally, a cap ring (4) prevents the device from being drawn through the tuning post hole. The device may be used with strings of different thickness and the strings may be synthetic or steel.

Description

Title -Easy String
Background
Re-stringing musical instruments e.g. guitar, is not something many people find easy as it usually involves winding the string round the post' and then inserting the string through the post to allow the wound string' to then tighten and lock the string in place. This requires dexterity, technique and finger strength that many instrument owners do irnt have.
Statement of invention
This invention makes the process of re-stringing a musical instrument much easier by providing a locking device for the strings for insertion within the string tuning post' at the head of the instrument. The location and basic approach is shown in drawing 3 of 3 operation process'
Description
The string locking device is shown in drawing 1 of 3 and 2 of 3 accompanying this application.
The Easy String locking device enables the user too simply; 1 -thread a string though the string locking post at the head of the instrument (e.g. gtritai) 2 -thread the Easy String device over the string and push it down into the string locking post 3 -commence winding the locking post to tune the string Advantages The basic approach enables anyone to replace a string by simply threading the string *....: through the post and then threading the device down over the string and into the string * post to lock the string in place while the user winds the string tight for tuning.
* :* :* The device is designed to work with various thicknesses of string (typically instruments *:. have 4 to 6 different thickness of string) and string type (e.g. nylon and steel).
The design of the device incorporates a number of key features: **.* ". : Feature 1 -chamfered edges at the top of the device helps to lock the string when the device is located in the string post, Feature 2 -additional locking features inside the device provided additional locking' when located inside the string post, Feature 3 -locking features on the exterior of the device help lock the device in place within the string post when inserted Feature 4 -a cap ring that prevents the device being drawn into the string post when in use. 0 S * .
