Abstract
A container for delicatessen food products comprises an outer container 1 and an internal removable basket 2 with drainage holes to separate the food product from its liquid when the basket is removed. This allows for a clean, hygienic and practical way to eat a given product without disposing of its original liquid. The product is always kept in its original liquid preserve until it is fully consumed, allowing the product to remain fresh for longer. The basket, which may be attached to the lid 4 of the container, can be removed completely from the outer container, or utilise resting grooves 7 to be clicked into a designated height.
Description
1
Title
Delicatessen Food Container
Background
This product relates to the packaging and preservation of delicatessen food products. The idea came about due to the lack of good quality packaging which houses food products together with their necessary liquid substance such as olives in brine/oil, peppers in vinegar/oil etc.
The main problems with the majority of packaging solutions currently available are issues with re-sealing the packaging with the food product together with their preservation liquid once opened, and difficulty in accessing and picking the desired amount in a clean and hygienic manner.
Statement of Invention
To overcome these problems, the present invention proposes a new packaging container which incorporates an internal removable basket which drains the food products' preserve and stores it within the main plastic container while the food product remains within the basket and is easily accessible. Essentially the product allows for a method of separating the food product and its liquid preserve in a clean and hygienic way.
Advantages & Features
The products main feature, the separation/unification of a food product from/with its liquid preserve, is the key aspect of the product. This feature has many advantages
The key advantages and features of the product are that the user can access the specific amount of the food product housed within the container, without having to dispose the liquid preserve. The preserve remains within the external plastic container whilst the user can pick the given amount from the internal basket. Once the desired amount of food has
2
been picked or taken out, the food product inside the basket is then placed back with its liquid preserve. This essentially allows the product to be in it original liquid preserve until fully consumed.
This feature allows for the product to remain fresher for longer, giving the user optimum taste for longer.
Introduction to Drawings
An example of the drawings will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings:
Page 1/4 Plans, Sections & Elevations of Food Container Page 2/4 Plans, Sections & Elevations of Internal Basket & Lid Page 3/4 Sectional and Exploded Axonometric Views of Food Container Page 4/4 Sequential Axonometric Views of Food Container
The drawings make numerical reference to all components/parts of the food container. These are:
1. External Plastic Container
2. Internal Plastic Basket
3. Plastic Arms
4. Screw-down Lid
5. Slider Groove
6. Base Draining Holes and Side Draining Slits
7. Resting Grooves
8. Internal Basket Lips
9. Lid Handle
Detailed Description
Step 1
Rotate lid (1) clockwise to unscrew, and then pull lid (1) by using central handle (9). By pulling upwards, this extends the plastic arms (3) which are attached to the underside of the lid on one side and to the internal plastic basket (2) on the other via the slider grooves (5). This movement extends the plastic arms (3) along the slider grooves (5) in the internal plastic basket (2), at which point the lowest part of the plastic arms (3) reaches the pivoting point.
Step 2
On continued pulling of the lid (4), this starts to pull the internal basket (2) housing the food product upwards. By doing so, this process allows for the liquids preserving the
3
food product to drain through the basket via the designated drainage holes (6) located on the side and the base.
The internal basket (2) has 3 designated heights at which it slots into for ease of reach. The internal basket has a lip (8) located on the bottom, which slots into the designated resting grooves (7) located on the external plastic container (1) as it is being pulled upwards. Once the desired position is reached, the lid (4) can be tilted 90 degrees so as to eradicate obstruction to products inside.
Step 3
As an alternative, the internal basket (2) can be completely removed from the external plastic container and placed on a designated serving platter or plate.

Claims (3)
1. Internal basket housed within an external container. Internal basket to consist of drainage holes to allow for the separation/unification of a food product from/with its liquid preserve, while liquid remains within the external container.
2. The internal basket is attached to the lid of the container. The internal container moves in unison with the lid via the attached plastic arms.
3. Internal basket can be pulled into designated positions located on the external container. The basket clicks into place by pulling the basket. This allows for the lip located at the bottom of the basket to force itself into a designated resting groove.
