249,972. Triumph Cycle Co., Ltd., and Phillips, J. A. Feb. 6, 1925. Controlling variable-speed gearing.-A link for gear control mechanism yields for both pulling and pushing to facilitate change. A single spring 9 is supported between washers 7, 10 threaded upon a rod 1 which forms one end member of the link. The other end member 2 is attached to a tube 5, which has intermediately a constriction 6 forming an abutment for the washer 7, and is inwardly flanged at its end 11 to form an abutment for the washer 10. The washers 7, 10 also abut each upon the rod member 1 at 8 and 15 respectively. The spring 9 is permanently enclosed. A locked screw adjustment 12, 13 may be provided.
