Abstract

A bathing aid comprises cushion formed by a net bag, where the net bag contains a plurality of plastic spheres. The net bag is designed to assist persons of limited movement to lower into a bath more easily. The net bag is made from 8mm mesh, the bag dimensions being approximately 50cm diameter and 18cm deep. The filling for the bag is 140 polystyrene/plastic spheres. The bag features a 15cm nylon zip and also includes nylon ribbon handles.

Description

This new invention addresses a proven need to help people with some limitation to movement. This condition, could be due to many and varied physical problems in a mild form. Examples are, muscle or joint impairments, caused by accidents, ageing, rheumatoid or any other movement or joint limiting problems.
Statement of invention
After trials with a person who has one of the above mentioned movement impairments, it was discovered that by using this new bathing aid, the person was able more easily to lower into and raise from a sitting position in the bath, than was previously experienced.
There was greatly improved confidence and security.
Advantajes The advantages of using this new invention, due to its light weight and simplicity of manipulation, enables the user to have a safe and therapeutically relaxing bath whilst still maintaining their independence. Thus obviating the need to employ inflatable, heavy, manual, mechanical or cumbersome aids.
A drawing of the new invention is now attached. See page 2 of 5 Explanation of drawings Figure (2) shows the sphere. This is made of a plastic! polystyrene and is approximately 20 cm circumference (140) balls are used. The number of balls may be increased or decreased, by using the zipped aperture, depending upon how low the user wishes to be in the bath.
Figure f 1) shows the removable net bag. This houses the balls and is made from lightweight nylon!polyester net, washable fabric. The bag has two handles, attached at the sewing stage and is closed with a 1 Scm nylon or plastic zip which is placed as a closure to the narrower strip. * 3
Detailed description.
The net bag. (fig2.) is cut from a lightweight mesh of 8mm nylon/polyester, quick drying fabric, consisting of two pieces of 51 cm diameter and one piece of 18 cm x cm. Two strips of 2 cm x 45 cm nylon ribbon (handles) and one 15 cm lightweight, nylon/plastic zip.
Using a sewing machine, which has been threaded with matching polyester/ nylon thread and leaving a seam allowance of 1.5cm. Join one of the 51 cm diameter pieces of fabric to one side of the 18 cm x 185 cm strip, seam allowance is 1.5 cm. At this stage fix handles and zip. Positioned as noted in fig (2).
Complete the bag by attaching the other piece of 51 cm diameter fabric. Place the spheres in the bag which is now closed with the zip.
