Abstract

246,767. Amsler, A., and Ewak Akt.- Ges. Nov. 11, 1924. Vehicle fittings; overhead travellers.-Parcels, loaded promiscuously into slings of the type described in Specification 249,176, are transferred in bulk to covered railway wagons by travelling crane mechanism built into the structure of the wagon. An arched crane bridge, adjustable longitudinally on rails 11 in the wagon, carries a sliding jib 17 which runs on rollers 16 and is positioned by the motor 20 through rack or chain-and-sprocket mechanism. A second motor 21 positions the load-carrying crab along the jib and also raises and lowers the sling. Fig. 2 shows a cross-section through the jib and bridge illustrating the motor 20 geared to the sprocket chain 17 and the motor 21 geared to one of the crab rollers 22 and also to the winch 26. Both bridge and jib consist of two channeliron girders 14 and 15 respectively. In a modified construction a single motor adjusts the jib, crab, and sling.
