Abstract

A bearing plate (1) is provided with at least one toroidal elastomeric member (19) which seals against the bearing chamber when the bearing plate is attached thereto. The bearing plate may be provided with one or more grooves (15), (25) in a surface which, when the bearing plate is attached to the bearing chamber, abuts against the bearing chamber, each groove being for accommodating a toroidal elastomeric member.
