Abstract

A cleaning device comprising a handle and a pliable cleaning head 3 connected to the handle 2, the cleaning head comprises a support region 4 sandwiched between a pair of cleaning regions 6. The device may be used to clean between spaced opposing surfaces for example sliding shower screen doors. Preferably the cleaning regions 6 may be made form a non-scratch plastics material, and the support region made from a softer material such as sponge. The cleaning head may be connected to one end of the handle and may be generally D-shaped where the axis of symmetry of the D-shaped head is coincident with the longitudinal axis of the handle. At the opposite end region of the handle may be provided a polishing member comprising a non-abrasive pad 9 supported by a layer of sponge material 8.

Description

* 2452907
A CLEANING DEVICE
The present invention relates to a cleaning device and particularly, but not exclusively, to such a device for removing water and soap residue from between the sliding doors of a shower cubicle.
Due to the fact that the gap between the sliding doors of a shower cubicle is too narrow for a conventional cloth to be used there is a tendency to allow dirty water and soap residue to accumulate on the facing services of the glass screen. Also the shower glass can lose its bright appearance and make the user reluctant to take showers.
it is an aim of the present invention to reduce this problem and to that end there is provided a cleaning device for cleaning between spaced facing is surfaces, comprising a handle and a pliable cleaning head connected to the handle, which cleaning head comprises a support region sandwiched between a pair of cleaning regions.
The support region may be softer than the cleaning region.
The cleaning regions may comprise limbs of a generally D -shaped layer.
The handle may be generally rod shaped and have a longitudinal axis which is coincident with the axis of symmetry of the generally D-shaped layer.
The support region may comprise a sponge material.
The cleaning surfaces may comprise a relatively non-scratch plastics matenal.
The cleaning head may be connected to one end region of the handle and at the opposite end region of the handle there may be provided a polishing member.
The polishing member may comprise a non abrasive pad which is supported by a layer of sponge material An embodiment of a cleaning device according to the present invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing.
The cleaning device I comprises a thermo plastics handle 2, to one end region of which is connected a cleaning head 3. The cleaning head 3 comprises a sponge inner layer 4 which has a pair of spaced transverse surfaces 5 and an arcuate surface 6.
Surrounding the sponge inner layer 4 and adhered to it is a non scratch, plastics scourer outer layer 6 which is of generally D-shaped cross section. Attached to the opposite end of the handle 2 is a polishing pad 7 comprising an inner sponge portion 8 surrounded by a smooth fabric portion 9.
Although the embodiment of the present invention has been described in connection with the cleaning of sliding shower doors it is equally applicable to the cleaning of many other sliding panels such as sash windows and wardrobe doors.
The dimensions of the cleaning device according to the present invention depends on its intended use. For example if it is to be used to clean between the sliding doors of a shower cabinet the cleaning head and the handle may be smaller than if the intended use is for cleaning large sliding windows. This does not affect the principle of the present invention. A suitable size for a device intended to be used in cleaning shower cabinets may be one with a handle having a length of about 15cm, and a D-shaped cleaning head in which the dimension of the head parallel to the handle is about 4cm and transversely to the handle about 3cm.
