Abstract

A process for ink jet printing a substrate using an ink comprising a water-soluble compound of Formula (1) which is free from fibre-reactive groups: wherein: each R1 and R2 independently is a substituent other than H; m and n each independently has a value of 0 to 4; (m+n) has a value of at least 1; X and Y each independently is O, S, SO, SO2 or -NR3-; and R3 is H or optionally substituted alkyl, aryl or heteroaryl.
