Abstract

A portable water container 6 comprises a built in hand operated pump 1 to pressurise the container, a tap outlet 4 and a pressure relief valve 3.

Description

I

Water Container This invention relates to a device for dispensing stored water, at pressure, by means of a standard tap outlet.

Currently, when people go camping, there arc various means by which one can store and dispense drinking water.

More often than not, you will not be camping near to a water standpipe and so you have to collect and store water (for drinking, washing etc.) in a container.

Generally, water is thendapensed with aslow flow rate thdneedt0tip and/orlift the water container. This makes water dispensing a difficult and frustrating experience, especially for children.

To overcome this, the present invention will deliver water with the same ease as turning on a standard household tap. Thus making water dispensing easy for all.

The present invention proposes a means by which water can be dispensed easily, and at pressure, without the need for: a) Mains power or stored power (i.e. a battery) b) Mains fed water pressure c) LingthewatercontaflertOaheightm0thertoC"h10f' water.

An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawing, Figure 1. This shows a standard cylindrical water container (6).

Figure 1 shows a standard water container (item 6) fitted with, as follows: 1. Hand operated pump 2. Screw filler cap 3. Pressure relief valve 4. Tap outlet 5. Diptube 6. Water Container The container is filled with water in the traditional manneç by use of the screwed filler cap (2).

To achieve easily dispensed water, a hand pump (1) is built into the water container (6). Once pwnped approximately thirty times, a build up of pressure is created within the storage container. This creates the pressure required to deliver the stored water at force when the outlet tap (4) is opened.

When the tap is opened, water is forced from the bottom of the container through the dip tube (5) and out through the open tap outlet.

When the tap outlet isopened, water will flow from the ther the waterrunsout or the pressure within the container is fully used.

If the pressure runs Out but water is still in the container, you simply have to increase the pressure within the container once again, by use of the hand pump. You can then continue to dispense water from the tap outlet.

Preferably, the water container will be installed on a stand (not shown), thus allowing adequate space under the tap for cups, saucepans or other smaller containers.

The tap outlet (4) can be of any style (for example standard screw down, lever operated or push button).

A pressure relief valve (3) has been included for ease of relieving the pressure in the container, in order to quickly and safely empty the container at zero pressure via the filler cap.

The pressure relief valve (3) also acts as a safety device, in that it will safely relieve the pressure in the container should the pressure become too great The idea being that. the pressure relief valve blows' before the water container fails.

The water container can be manufactured in a range of shapes and sizes, although a cylindrical container is the strongest design.

The water container will be made of plastic.
