Circular machines.-Jacquard devices for acting upon sliding needles by means of feeler devices &c. such as push pins 29 and levers 31 are presented so that there is no rubbing contact between the jacquard band 1 and the push pins. The band passes over bars 6 and studded wheels 2 on a spindle 3 carrying a ratchet 25. The spindle is mounted in a frame 10 fitted with slide bars 11 movable in vertical ways 12. The frame 10 is carried by an arm 18 attached to a plunger 19 which is moved up and down by a roll 17 running in a cam track. When the frame is lifted the ratchet 25 is turned by a pawl 26. When the frame is depressed a wheel with peripheral holes' carried by the spindle 3 comes down on a fixed pin and the engagement of one of the holes therewith ensures that the band and the push pins 29 are in register. A number of jacquard devices may be used simultaneously. A cam system for operating the selected needles is described.
