Abstract
An electrical mechanical gravitational storage device comprising: an input/output unit (motor/generator) 1; a flywheel 2; and a gearbox 3 which includes a speed governor and a braking device (not shown). The braking device holds the mechanical parts stationary when not in use and brings the mechanical parts to a stop when they are moving. The gearbox 3 is connected to a chain 5 by a pulley 4, the chain being connected to a weight 6. In operation the motor lifts the weight 6 via the chain 5 and pulley 4, the weight 6 then remaining in a raised position (see Figure 1) to store energy which can then be released to drive the motor/generator 1 when needed.
Description

1 2438416 This invention relates to a device for storing electricity in
a gravitational mechanicals form; This device can be used inconjunction with present forms of electrical generative means,ie.coal, oil, gas, nuclear and wind etc. This storage device allows electricity to be moved from one part of the day to another,eg.nighttime to daytime.or even move electricity from day to day,or even week to week etc. The device uses a motor/generator as a means of inputting the electricity and as required output the stored electricity which can be of any voltage and any cycle eg, ac/dc.

To stcie eLrctricity in to the unit you input electricity which has been generated by means of ie. coal, oil, gas, wind and nuclear etc. through the motor part of the motor/ generator.

This then turns the gears in the gearbox which pulls the chain of the block and tackle and inturn lifts the weight.

The governor or (speed control) is used to keep things under control.

The storage device also has a racheL mechanism to help in charging of the device, (storing electrity in mechanical form).

The breaking unit is used to start and stop the charging and discharging of the device.

A switch on the electrical side of the device should be used to connect/disconnect the input/output when using the braking unit.

A jockey wheel is used to keep the chain from slipping on on the gearbox pulley.

The weight uses guides in the weight houing to stop sideways movement.

Phasing is required when inputing/outputing ac,(alternat-ing current).

The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Figure 1, shows the side veiw of the invention (storage device).

Figure 2, is the veiw looking down on the invention (storage device).

In figure 1, a weight 6. is suspended from a block and tackle assembly 5. in a weight housing, this can be of any size.

the block and tackle 5. uses a chain for flexability and strenth, this is put round the pulley 4, and is held inpiace by a jockey wheel 7.the pulley 4. is on the side of the gearbox 3. abraking device 8. is also fitted to the side of the gearbox as well as a governor 9. to control the speed of the gearbox.

In figure 2. we see a weight 6. the block and tackle assembly 5. pulley 4. gearbox 3. etc. as in figure 1.we also see the flywheel 2. which is connected to the gearbox 3. and to the generator/motor 1. this is the input/output part of the device.
