Abstract

A grey water, e.g. bathwater, reuse pump comprises a bulb connected to a three metre outlet hose 3 and a short inlet hose 1. The outlet hose has a universal hose connector 4 for attachment to a garden hose. The bulb is squeezed to start the siphon and requires about 5 squeezes. The inlet hose may be placed in a bath with the bulb floating on the water surface and the outlet hose going through the window to a water butt or directly to the garden. May be easily stored in a bathroom.

Description

-2438263 Siphon Pump and Hose fitted with universal connector to empty
bathwater into garden.

Developed in response to the current hosepipe ban covering 13 million homes in the UK, the invention empties bathwater using a siphon pump into a water butt or directly onto the garden.

At the moment the only option is to use a bucket or attach an appliance into the downpipe to divert the water from the drain.

This product with its length of hose attached to a universal connector, can be easily stored in the bathroom and involves about 5 squeezes of the pump to start the process and then atmospheric pressure takes over, causing the bath to empty itself in minutes.

Claims (1)

  1.
Claims Greywater recycling unit 1. A greywater recycling unit
comprising a short tube for immersion in a standing source of water, a hand operated squeezable bulb incorporating one-way entry and exit valves for drawing water into the unit whilst Preventing its return, a long tube and a connector allowing the unit to be extended by attachment to a standard garden hose.

2. A greywater recycling unit which is primed by a hand operated squeezable bulb (Figure 1 (1)) incorporating one-way entry and exit valves for drawing water into the unit whilst Preventing its return.

3. A greywater recycling unit which can be extended at will by using the connector (Figure 1 (2)) to attach a standard garden hose.

4. A greywater recycling unit substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying picture (Figure 2), incorporating a short tube (1) for immersion in a standing source of water; attached to a hand operated squeezable rubber bulb incorporating one-way entry and exit valves for drawing water into the unit whilst preventing its return (2); attached to a long tube (3); fitted with a connector (4) allowing the unit to be extended by attachment to a standard garden hose.

5. A method of re-using greywater from a container sited within a domestic property and elevated from a garden, comprising the steps of inserting the short tube of a recycling unit as claimed in any of the preceding daims into the water supply, connecting the longer tube to a garden hose by means of the universal connector squeezing the bulb a number of times in order to generate a syphon effect to cause the water to flow out of the container and distributing the water to the garden, a further container or for another use by means of the garden hose.
