Abstract

A radio controlled jet powered bait boat for the delivery of bait and/or hook and bait to a specific location in an expanse of water. The boat power means comprises a single water pump 1, a water flow tube 2, and integral water flow pipes 4 and 5. A thrust director 3 is moveable from a position where it is connected to the left side water flow pipe 4 to a position where it is connected to the right hand side water flow pipe 5. This allows water to be directed from either side of the boat, thus causing the boat to turn on its own axis in a either a clockwise or anticlockwise direction. The thrust may also be alternated from one to the other to effect a reverse motion.

Description

I
Bait Boat This invention relates to a bait boat Bait boats are well known in the angling industry. They provide a means to deliver bait and hook with hook bait to a specific location on an expanse of water. Moreover, they are radio controlled by design and thus enable the angler to stand on the bank with the handset and deliver the bait via the radio controlled boat to a given location.
They are generally propelled by means of a propeller (single or multiple) or water jets (multiple).
Bait boats are generally expensive. Moreover, there is a requirement for more than one pump or propeller to allow the boat to turn through 360 degrees within the length of its own axis.
According to the present invention, there is provided a single-pump driven boat with integral left and right side water flow pipes. The water jet from the pump passes through the main water flow tube and into a moveable thrust director. The moveable thrust director enables the water flow to be directed to the left or right side water flow pipes, each of which are built in to the hull of the boat. The redirection of the water flow in such a way enables the boat to turn on its own axis either in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction. When required, the thrust can be alternated between the two water flow pipes to achieve reverse motion.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:- Figure I shows in perspective, the underside of the bait boat with the moveable thrust director in a central position.
Figure 2 illustrates the underside of the boat with the moveable thrust director in its extreme left position.
Figure 3 illustrates the underside of the boat with the moveable thrust director in its extreme right position Referring to the drawings (these show the underside of the boat. Left and right positions are assumed from an above the boat view' i.e. when it is sat in the water) the boat comprises a single pump unit I with adjoining water flow tube 2. The water flow 6 passes from the pump through the water flow tube and into the moveable thrust director 3. The moveable thrust director is moved via a lever on the handset. In its central position Fig I. the water flow is directed perpendicular to the back of the boat giving forward movement. Any slight deviation in the movement of the moveable thrust director will give normal steering.
A movement in the moveable thrust director to its extreme left position Fig 2 will cause the water flow to pass through the integral left water flow pipe 4 enabling the boat to rotate on its own axis in an anticlockwise direction without forward movement.
Conversely, a movement in the moveable thrust director to its extreme right position Fig 3.will cause the water flow to pass through the integral right water flow pipe 5 enabling the boat to rotate on its own axis in a clockwise direction without forward movement..

Claims (2)

  1. Claims I A bait boat comprising a single pump, water flow tube, moveable
thrust director and left and right integral water flow pipes.
  2. 2 A bait boat as described in Claim 1, wherein 360 degree anti-clockwise rotation can be achieved without forward movement via the redirection of water flow through the left integral water flow pipe 3 A bait boat as described in Claim I or 2, wherein 360 degree clockwise rotation can be achieved without forward movement via the redirection of water flow through the right integral water flow pipe 4 A bait boat as described in Claim 1, 2 or 3, wherein water flow alternated between left and right integral water flow pipes produces gradual reverse motion.
