Abstract

242,413. Douglas Motors, Ltd., and Bailey, S. L. Oct. 13, 1924. Clutches.-A belt pulley, chainwheel, &c. 3, freely mounted on a flanged hub 2, carries in flanged thimbles 11 axially - slidable spring-pressed plungers 9 adapted to engage cam surfaces on a collar 6, which is slidable on the hub and can be, adjusted by a nut 5. The thimbles are retained in holes in the spokes by the plunger spring reaction. The cam surfaces may be formed by milling inclined or curved grooves 7 in the face of the collar. Under overload, the plungers slip out of their recesses. The parts may be enclosed by a cap 12.
