Abstract
A device for displaying novelties, e.g. antenna toppers, antenna balls or aerial bobs, on a vehicle comprises a base 1 and a post 2, onto which the novelty is fixed. The base may be attached to the vehicle by a magnet or sticky pad. The base may be provided with a number of different positions into which the post can be received.
Description
1 2422472 Novelty display antenna for vehicles This invention relates to
an antenna which displays novelty items on vehicles.
Many people are buying novelty items that are specially made to display on their vehicles aerial. In America these are called antenna balls' in the UK they are called aerial bobs'. These designs are varied and may represent anything from a hat to flags of their favourite football club. In many cases the display of these aerial bobs wouldn't pose a problem as they attach firmly onto a vehicles aerial. But as vehicle deigns change and technology improves, the need for a vehicle aerial becomes less and the actual aerial is imbedded into the vehicle itself.
* To overcome the lack of vehicle aerials to display these novelties on, an antenna system has been made that is in two parts. The first part, the base, attaches itself to the vehicle and is held in place by a sticky pad or magnet.
The antenna is then placed into the base where there is a choice of three holes which allows the antenna to display the novelty at three different angles of your choice and attach it to anywhere on or inside the vehicle.
This antenna display has advantages over the fact that the buyer can have the novelty displayed on their vehicle anywhere they wish to display it It also allows them to have more then one display if they so wish, whereas a vehicle's aerial would only allow them to display just one item. It also allows buyers to attach their novelty item to any vehicle that doesn't have an aerial for one reason or another. It can be easily assembled and disassembled and that means no more worry about breakage and theft. The whole system is made out of light material and therefore unlikely to cause any damage to vehicles and/or pedestrians if it were to come loose while driving.
An example of the antenna display system will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: * Figure 1 shows the display antenna in its broken down components and its three alternative display positions.
* Figure 2 shows the antenna base in a horizontal position and the antenna slotted into the top selection of the base demonstrating an upward display.
* Figure 3 shows the antenna base as if situated in a vertical position and the antenna slotted into a position relevant to that fixing angle and displaying an upward display.
* Figure 4 shows the antenna base as if situated in at a slightly angled position and the antenna slotted into a position relevant to that fixing giving an upward display.
In Figure 1 the base unit 1 and antenna unit 2 is shown broken down into the two components before assembling them together to make the display unit to affix to the vehicle and the three available positions as indicated by 3.
Figure 2 shows the base 1 as if placed onto a flat horizontal surface with the antenna 2 placed into the available selection for that position. This position is also suitable for a slight incline in the surface that base 1 is being attached to.
This particular position gives the antenna 2 an upward position so that the novelty item can be displayed.
In figure 3 the base unit 1 is displayed in a horizontal position with the antenna 2 placed in to the relevant position also giving the antenna 2 an upward display.
Figure 4 shows a final third position. In this illustration we can see that the base 1 is at a slight angle allowing the antenna 2 to be displayed in an upward position.
