Abstract

A linejack/linebox which incorporates a switch used to attach communications equipment to the communications network. The switch will allow the connection/disconnection of additional equipment to a wiring circuit. The switch can easily open or close the circuit attached.

Description

24 1 4359 (1) Switched Master Line box and line jacks.
This invention relates to Telecommunication line boxes or line jacks and in particular to any Telecommunication master line box, ADSL splitter boxes, and Telecommunications line jacks incorporating a switch. (2)
This invention relates to Telecommunication line boxes or line jacks and in particular to any Telecommunication master line box, ADSL splitter boxes, and Telecommunications line jacks incorporating a switch.
Conventionally, secondary wiring is connected via a connection point on a removable front plate of a line box and within a connection point on the line jack.
By incorporating a switch to the line box, ADSL splitter or line jack, the necessity to remove the front plate for fault diagnoses is eliminated.
Reference drawings Fig 1, page 2 of 3, illustrates a line box (1) with a switch (5) incorporated within the front plate (3) switchable to positions L (6) and position E (7). The front plate (3) is held in position by screws located at points (4). Test socket (2) is shown by means of a dotted 3d figure and is located behind front plate (3) and is an integrated part of line box (1).
Fig 2 illustrates a simple wiring diagram showing switch contacts (P), Exchange line entry (E), main telephone Exit (M) and extension/secondary wiring exit point (W).
For fault diagnoses on a customers telephone line he/she unscrews the two screws (4). and removes the front plate (3). thus disconnecting the secondary wiring or secondary apparatus.
By incorporating a switch (5) within the master line box (1), the customer would now be capable, of disconnecting the secondary wiring by means of operating the switch (5) and thereby disconnecting the secondary and or the secondary apparatus.
With the switch (5) positioned at the position E (7) (Code for Extension/Secondary wiring) the line and Secondary wiring and apparatus are connected.
With the switch (5) positioned at position L (6) (Code for Line and main Telephone.) the line and main telephone are connected and the secondary wiring and apparatus disconnected.
