Abstract

A tubular member 140 is anchored to a wellbore casing 100 by pressurising an expandable element 150. An expansion cone 130 having lubricating grooves and passages is then axially displaced by applying an axial force to a support member 125. The axial pressure may be enhanced by injecting a pressurized fluid into the annular space between support members 120,125. Various other anchoring devices are disclosed.
