Abstract

A method and apparatus of cultivating and sowing seed in which soil is broken up by pulling a first set of tines 16 therethrough, to create a plurality of shallow trenches of broken up soil, and at a distance behind and in line with each of the first tines 16, introducing seed to the rear of a second set of tines 14. The soil in the trenches is flattened by levelling means 22 aligned with and following the tines 14. The second tines 14 can include lateral wings to break up and lift the soil to facilitate the deposition of seed at the bottom of each trench. A hopper 10 containing seed, feeds seed to the rear and underside of each of the second tines 14. Detachable and/or liftable road wheels 24, 30 and/or height determining wheels are carried by the frame.
