Description

A CARTRIDGE FOR FIXING CONNECTOR
Field of the Invention
5 The present invention relates to a cartridge for fixing a connector, and more particularly to a cartridge for fixing a connector to an external device, while preventing the cartridge from moving in the external device while high temperature, high pressure or vibration is exerted on the external device.
Background of the Invention
Generally, a cartridge for connecting pipes is applied to a body of an external device, which is difficult to execute as a one-touch fitting, like a 15 pipe of a water purifier or an inlet or an outlet connected to a chemical-
delivery pipe. Such a cartridge has a connector, which is inserted into the cartridge to fix a tube such as a copper pipe. The connector is fixed to the inside of the external device.
20 As shown in Figures 1 and 2, such a cartridge A has an external toothed hook 10 for gripping the external device and an internal inclined hook 20 to which a connector B is inserted and caught. The connector B inserted and hooked in the cartridge A to connect a delivery pipe such as a tube or a copper pipe has resilient fins 30 so that the connector B may be inserted 25 and then hooked in the internal inclined hook 20 of the cartridge A. The connector B also has reversed hooking flaps 40 on the inside of the resilient fins 30 so that when the delivery pipe is inserted it is hooked therein when a user draws the delivery pipe outwards. Considering the manufacturing process of the cartridge A, which provides the connector B 30 to be hooked to the external device C by one touch, the cartridge A is
generally made of brass and the toothed hook 10 of the cartridge A is worked in advance.
Such a conventional toothed hook 10 of the cartridge A may prevent the 5 cartridge A from moving in the external device to some degree so that the connector may be inserted and fixed to the external device. However, when the external device vibrates or expands due to heat caused by high pressure, the toothed hook 10 does not cope with such conditions. So, there is still a problem that the cartridge A can move in the external 10 device C when the external device is heated or vibrated.
Summary of the invention
The present invention is designed to overcome such a problem of the 15 prior art.
According to the present invention, a cartridge for fixing a connector, includes a main body, a cap fixed to the main body, and a hook member inserted and fixed between the main body and the cap, the hook member 20 including an annular hook body and spaced resilient teeth projecting from the outer circumference of the hook body, a first set of the teeth being aligned with the hook body, and a second set of the teeth being inclined to the hook body.
25 The teeth will hold the cartridge in the external device, and in particular the aligned teeth of the first set prevent movement when high temperature, pressure or vibration are applied to the external device, while the inclined teeth of the second set can expand as the external device expands.
Preferably the aligned teeth of the first set are distributed round the hook body, with at least one inclined tooth of the second set between adjacent aligned teeth.
5 The hook member is preferably of metal, and may be formed by pressing.
Conveniently the cap is fixed to the main body by high frequency waves, that is, the two are ultrasonically welded together, with the hook member between them.
Brief Description of the Drawings
These and other features, aspects, and advantages of preferred embodiments of the present invention will be more fully described in the 15 following detailed description, taken with the accompanying drawings. In
the drawings: Figure 1 is a sectional view showing a cartridge assembled to an external device according to the conventional art;;:: Figure 2 is a perspective view showing a connector for a conventional cartridge; Figure 3 is an exploded perspective view showing a cartridge 25 according to the present invention; Figure 4 is a sectional view showing the assembled cartridge according to the present invention; and 30 Figure 5 is a sectional view showing the cartridge according to the present invention in use in an external device.
Detailed Description of the Embodiments
As shown in Figures 3 to 5, the cartridge A of the present invention 5 includes a main body 100 and a cap 200 fixed to the main body 100. The cartridge also includes a metallic hook member 300 positioned between the main body 100 and the cap 200. The metallic hook member 300 is inserted and fixed between the main body 100 and the cap 200 and the main body 100 and the cap 200 are joined by the use of high frequency 10 wave (ultrasonic welding). The hook member 300 substantially consists of a flat hook body 310 from the outer circumference of which project spaced resilient teeth 320, 330. A first set of resilient teeth 330 are aligned with the hook body 310, while a second set of inclined teeth 320 are interspersed between the aligned teeth.
The cartridge A constructed as above is now explained in more detail.
The main body 100 of the cartridge A includes, at one side, an internal projection 110 having an inclined inner circumference into which the connector B receiving a delivery pipe and to be reversely hooked is 20 resiliently inserted. That portion of the main body 100 has an outer circumference to be fitted in the external device C. The main body 100 also includes an outer shoulder 130 so that the hook member 300 may be inserted and fixed thereto. Further, the main body 100 includes a weld portion 120 having stepped protrusions on its outer surface and extending 25 from the outer shoulder 130 to the other side.
The cartridge A also includes the cap 200, which has a weld portion 210 on its inner surface, adapted to be welded to the stepped weld portion 120 by the use of high frequency waves, and an annular escape groove 220 on 30 its outer surface, at its end adjacent the hook member 300.
The metallic hook member 300 has the hook body 310 inserted and fixed between the escape groove 220 of the cap 200 and the outer shoulder 130 of the main body 100. The resilient teeth 320, 330 project outwardly of the main body 100 and cap 200 to grip the external device.
The resilient teeth 320, 330 of the metallic hook member 300 are manufactured by a pressing process.
The hook member 300 is made of metal having sufficient elasticity. The 10 hook body 310 of the metallic hook member 300 has a flat surface to closely contact with the outer shoulder 130. The teeth 320, 330 are integrally extended from the hook body 310 in the manner of a toothed.
wheel. The teeth 320, 330 made by the pressing process can be folded or stretched. There are three or four aligned teeth 330; the remainder are 15 inclined teeth 320.
The escape groove 220 on the cap 200 has sufficient length to receive the inclined and aligned resilient teeth 320, 330 are deformed by inserting the ^* metallic hook member 300 into the external device C. -
The weld portions of the cap 200 and the main body 100 are formed to have stepped protrusions and become integrated after welding. The weld portions can have any shape or position to ensure sufficient adhesion between them using high frequency waves.
The cartridge A of the present invention is assembled in the external device C as follows. First, the main body 100 is inwardly positioned facing the external device C and the cap 200 is outwardly positioned opposite to the main body 100. The inclined teeth 320 of the hook 30 member 300 are inclined toward the escape groove 220 of the cap 200, while the aligned teeth 330 maintain their horizontal state.
Then, as the cartridge A is inserted into the external device C, the inclined and aligned teeth 320, 330 are resiliently pressed into the escape groove 220 and then the fitting process of the cartridge A is completed.
5 The inclined teeth 320 are inserted into the external device C at an angle, which may prevent the inner side of the external device from being scratched. The inclined teeth 320 also are reversely hooked with the external device after being inserted thereinto, so that the fitting force of the external device increases as much as possible. The aligned teeth 330 10 are forced into the groove 220 at right angles to their original position, so greatly increasing their fixing force toward the external device and preventing movement of the cartridge A. After fitting the cartridge, an elastic fin 30 of the connector B is 15 elastically inserted and hooked. And then a delivery pipe such as a tube or pipe is inserted and fixed by using a reversed hook 40 so as to connect the external device C to the delivery pipe.
In such a configuration, if the external device C is expanded due to high 20 temperature or high pressure during fluid flow to the delivery pipe, the inclined teeth 320 of the cartridge A become also expanded as much as the external device C so that the fitting force of the cartridge A is uniformly maintained. In addition, if the external device C is vibrated, the aligned teeth 330 exert more effective fixing force than the inclined 25 teeth 320 so that the cartridge A is not moved.
As discussed above, in the cartridge of the present invention, the metallic hook member inserted and fixed between the main body and the cap during the adhesion process using high frequency waves is made with the 30 inclined resilient teeth and the aligned resilient teeth so that the inclined teeth may expand to hold an external device as the external device
expands, while the aligned teeth may securely fix the external device to prevent the cartridge from moving in the external device while high temperature, high pressure or vibration is exerted on the external device.
