Sound magnifying and directing appliances. - In a loudspeaking telephone, two or more electroacoustic devices, each for reproducing and amplifying sound over a diffierent range of frequencies, are combined so that a substantially uniform reproduction and amplification of sound is obtained over a wide range of frequencies, the horn of one unit being arranged within that of another. As shown, two electroacoustic devices A, B each comprising a telephone instrument and a horn are used in combination. The unit A is resonant to the lower range of audible frequencies, and the unit B isresponsive to the upper range. The horn 10 of the unit B is inserted through an opening 15 in the flared end of the horn 1 of the unit A, and terminates in a flared mouth which lies in the plane of the mouth of the horn 1 but does not interfere with the sound emanating therefrom. The horns 1, 10 may be secured together by welding &c. their edges of contact, and the unit thus formed may be mounted in a cabinet.
