Abstract
A set of portable garden play equipment comprises two rectangular bases each having a raised front edge 5 representing a roadside curb, and a carrying handle in the form of a hole 1. When empty, the bases are lightweight and easily portable, with holes 6 being provided which allow the bases to be filled with sand or water in order to increase the weight for stability, and holes 2 through which pins or pegs can be inserted to secure the bases to the ground. A flat portion 3 is also provided which extends rearwardly of the raised front edge, and the bases are formed from plastics. In use, the bases are spaced apart from one another with the raised front edge 5 of each base facing the raised front edge 5 of the other base. A first player stands on the flat portion 3 of one base, a second player stands on the flat portion 3 of the other base, and said players take turns at throwing a ball (not shown) in an attempt to rebound the ball from the opposing base in accordance with the rules of the popular game known as curbs, kerbs, curby, kerby, kirby or kurby.
Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
PORTABLE GARDEN PLAY EQUIPMENT The invention relates to portable garden play equipment.
The activity this equipment relates to is an old game that was traditionally played in the street. The game involved, made use of the curbs on either side of the road. A ball is bounced across the road using the curbs to rebound against and score points from your opponent.
Given our present society and the high profile of road safety due to the increase in traffic generally, it would make more sense to revive the game using the secure environment of your own garden.
The present invention demonstrates lightweight, easily portable bases that can be pegged into the ground for extra safety.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which :- Figure 1 shows in perspective one of the two bases which make the equipment complete the second base being identical.
Referring to the drawing the bases consist of one piece formed plastic comprising of 1 being the carrying handle hole. 2 being peg down holes secured to the ground by means of pegs or similar fixings (pegs not shown). 3 being standing portion of base. 4 shows direction of standing position to be highlighted by use of graphic design. 5 shows radius on front edge representing the curb on the design. 6 shows fill hole for sand or water for the purpose of adding weight for secured stability.
Claims (4)
