Abstract

A protective thermal control for an electric kettle includes terminals 7 carrying fixed contacts, movable contacts 4, 6 and a fusible element 17 to protect the appliance in case of an overheat situation. Bimetallic element 10 operates as a dry-boil control via dry heating lift pin 11 to switch off the appliance should a normal overheat situation arise, e.g. no water in the kettle. If this dry-boil control should fail, fusible element 17 melts, allowing flat spring 19 to move pin 16 down and push movable contact 6 away from terminal 7, thus switching the appliance off.

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER, ELECTRIC CONNECTOR AND ELECTRIC WATER HEATER Technical field The present invention relates to temperature controller, electric connector and electric water heater.
Technical background The temperature controller is mainly used for temperature control. When the water in the container is heated and, dried, and if it is not controlled, the container will be damaged and fire may occur. The structure of the existing temperature controller for the water heating control includes controller main body, moving contactor, electric connection parts, temperature sensitive bimetal piece and apical rod. The moving contactor and the electric connection part contacts through spring pressure, they are connected in series in the electric power circuit. The apical rod is located between the temperature sensitive bimetal piece and the moving contactor.
When it is used, the temperature sensitive bimetal piece is adhered on heating face such as wall surface of the container. When the water in the container is heated and dried, temperature on the wall surface of the container will rise and cause action of the temperature sensitive bimetal piece to push the apical rod to move. Because the apical rod is clamped between the temperature sensitive bimetal piece and the moving contactor, the force caused by the sticking up from heating of the temperature sensitive bimetal piece is bigger than the spring force of the moving contactor, that causes to push up the moving contactor to let it separated from the electric connector to cut off the electric power circuit to cut off the power of the

electric heater and to stop heating to realize objective of temperature control. The disadvantage is that when power of the electric heater is off, wall surface temperature of the container decreases and makes the temperature sensitive bimetal piece reset and the apical rod also resets under the spring force of the moving contactor to make the moving contactor and the electric connection part contact, so the power circuit is connected to make the electric heater connect and heat, it moves in circle to make the electric heater on and off repeatedly without water, this not only reduces the contact life of the moving contactor piece and contactor of electric connection piece and also it damages the moving contactor after long time, once the moving contactors melt together, fire may occur, if the temperature controller is installed in the electric apparatus product, it will cause bad safety performance of the electric apparatus product.
The electric connector mainly realizes electric connection of the electric product, for the electric products dividing into two parts for the convenience of using the electric apparatus product by the user, quality of the electric connector directly influences quality of the electric product. The structure of the existing electric connector includes connector main body, electrode located in the connector main body connecting the power source and electric connection piece connecting electronic parts inside the electric appliance, the electrode and electric connection piece are connected in the connector main body. The electric connector used in the electric heater has temperature control structure, which not only realizes power connection and also prevents the electric heater from burning out due to the overheating, and the structure is compact and saves material. The structure includes the structure main body, moving contactor, electric connection piece, electrode, the temperature sensitive bimetal piece and apical rod. The difference from the above temperature controller is that the electrode and the electric connection piece are connected inside the structure main body. The electrode is used for connection of the electrode of the connector matching with it. It is installed in the electric apparatus product and the problem of the use such as for the electric

heater is as above mentioned.
The electric heater is mainly used for heating the liquid. The structure includes water container, electric heater installed under the container and the electric connector between the container and the base. The electric connector installed under the container has the same problem of the electric connector abovementioned.
Inventive content: One of the invention objectives is to provide a temperature controller with safe temperature control with heating movement of the temperature sensitive bimetal piece and that when the moving contactor is disconnected, it can not reset but can be reset manually.
The other objective of the invention is provide a electric connector with safe temperature control with heating movement of the sensitive heating bimetal piece and that when the moving contactor is disconnected, it can not reset, but it can be reset manually.
The other objective of the invention is provide a electric heater with safe temperature control with heating movement of the sensitive heating bimetal piece and that when the moving contactor is disconnected, it can not reset, but it can be reset manually.
To realize the said first objective of the invention, the said temperature controller includes the controller main body, moving contactor piece, electric connection part, temperature sensitive bimetal piece adhered on the heating surface and heating-dry control apical rod located between the temperature

sensitive bimetal piece and the moving contactor piece, the said moving contactor piece is pressed on the electric connection parts under the normal condition, the sliding part in the controller main body, pressing part on the sliding part and the clip part on the moving contactor piece is provided.
The invention adds one sliding part, clip part and spring pressing part in the temperature controller main body of the existing structure, when the temperature sensitive bimetal piece is heated and it acts, it will push heating-dry control apical rod to drive the moving contactor piece separate from the electric connection part and meanwhile the moving contactor piece is clamped by the clip piece, though the temperature on the temperature sensitive bimetal piece decreases and the temperature sensitive bimetal piece resets, the moving contactor piece will not reset.
When a force is applied on the sliding part, the sliding part pushes the clip piece to spring out during the movement to separate the clip piece from the moving contactor piece, and the moving contactor piece resets and contacts the electric connection part.
To realize the second objective of the invention, the said electric connector includes the connector main body, moving contactor piece, electric connection part, contact electrode connecting the electric connection part, temperature sensitive bimetal piece which can be adhered on the heating surface and heating-dry control apical rod located between the temperature sensitive bimetal piece and the moving contactor piece, the said moving contactor piece is pressed on the electric connection parts under the normal condition. In the connector main body, the sliding part, pressing part on the sliding part and the clip part clamped on the moving contactor piece is provided. The invention also adds one sliding part, clip part and spring pressing part in the electric connector main body of the existing structure, when the temperature sensitive bimetal piece is heated and it acts, it will push burning control apical rod to drive the moving contactor piece to separate it from the electric connection part, meanwhile the moving contactor piece is clamped by the

clip piece, though the temperature on the temperature sensitive bimetal piece decreases and the sensitive heating bimetal piece resets, the moving contactor piece will not reset. When another electric connector is inserted in the electric connector, another electric connector will trigger the sliding piece to push the clip piece to spring up during inserting to separate the clip piece and the moving contactor piece to make the moving contactor piece reset and contact the electric connector.
To realize the third objective of the invention, the said electric heater includes container, base, electric heater installed on the container, the matching insert upper electric connector and lower electric connector on the base, the said upper electric connector includes connector main body, moving contactor piece, electric connector connecting the electric heater, contact electrode connecting the electric connector and the electric connector, the temperature sensitive bimetal piece adhered on the heating surface of the container, heating-dry control apical rod located between the temperature sensitive bimetal piece and the moving contactor piece, the said moving contact piece is sprung on the electric connector under the normal condition, the connector main body has the sliding piece, spring piece sprung on the sliding piece and the clip piece, which can be clipped on the moving contactor piece. The invention adds a sliding part, clip part and elastic part in the electric connector main body of the existing electric heater structure. When the water is heated dry, the surface temperature of the container rises and the temperature sensitive bimetal piece is heated and it acts to push heating-dry control apical rod to drive the moving contactor piece to separate the moving contactor piece from the electric connector, meanwhile the moving contactor piece is clamped by the clip piece. Though the temperature on the container decreases and the sensitive heating bimetal piece resets, the moving contactor piece cannot reset. When the container is put on the base again or the electric connector on the base is inserted in the electric connector, the base or the electric connector on the base will trigger the sliding piece to push the clip piece to spring up during the insertion of the sliding part to make the clip

piece separate from the moving contactor piece and the moving contactor piece reset. In this way if the water in the container is dried out by heating, if the user does not take up the container, no matter how long it is, the moving contactor and the electric connector will remain in the separate condition to enable the electric heater not to be connected and heated. Only when the user takes up the container, injects water in the container again and put it on the base, i. e. the container and the base separates once, the moving contactor piece and the electric connector will contact again and the power will be on and repetitive action of the contact piece and the electric connector under the condition of the dry heating of the container will be eliminated.

The said temperature controller in the implementation example includes connector main body 1, moving contactor piece 4, electric connector 7, temperature sensitive bimetal piece 10, heating-dry control apical rod 11, sliding piece 15, clip part 20 and elastic pressing piece 21.
The said sliding piece 15 can slides in the controller main body 1. The moving contactor piece 4 and electric connector 7 is elastic contact under normal condition.
One end of elastic pressing piece 21 is fixed in the connector main body 1 and another end is pressed on the sliding piece 15. The elastic force of elastic piece 21 is bigger than that of contact piece. When elastic piece 21 is elastically pressed on the sliding piece 15 and sliding piece, 15 will jack up the moving contactor piece and make it separate from the electric connector 7. The said clip piece 20 has clapping part 24 for clapping moving contactor piece. When edge of the moving contactor piece 4 is pushed to the clapping part 24 on the clip piece 20 by the heating-dry control apical rod 11, it will be clamped by the clapping part 24. Because the moving contactor piece 4 moves with the temperature sensitive bimetal piece and the heating-dry control apical rod 11, the clapping part 24 can be set to clamp the heating-dry control apical rod 11 to realize the effectiveness. As shown in the fig, the said clip piece 20 can be equipped with the jack part 23 which contacts the sliding piece 15 to spring up and makes the clapping part 24 separate from the moving contactor piece 4.
The said controller main body 1 has metal cover 12. The metal cover 12 has spring piece 19 fixed with fusing fastener 17. The end of the spring piece 19 is fixed on the metal cover 12 through fastener 18. The fusing point temperature of fusing fastener 17 is higher than temperature of heating action of the temperature sensitive

bimetal piece, so the fusing control apical rod is provided between the spring piece 19 and the contact piece 6, the contact piece 6 and the electric connector 7 are elastically contacted under normal condition. When the temperature of the metal cover 12 rises to the fusing temperature of the fusing fastener 17, the fusing fastener 17 is melt, and the spring 19 springs downwards to push fusing control apical rod 16 to jack the moving contactor piece 6, to make it separate from the electric connector 7 to guarantee cut off of the power circuit between the moving contactor piece 6 and the electric connector 7 to realize double protection when heating-dry protection structure controlled by the temperature sensitive bimetal piece fails. When using it, only the moving contactor pieces 4 and 6 are connected in serial with the electric connector 7 in the power circuit, the power can be off and on in the temperature control circuit.
Figs. 8-12 show the electric connector. The said electric connector in the implementation example includes connector main body 1 made of plastics, moving contactor piece 4 made of two pieces of copper, electric connector 7 made of two pieces of copper, contact electrode 2 and 3 made of two pieces of copper, temperature sensitive bimetal piece 10, heating-dry control apical rod 11, grounding electrode 13, sliding piece 15 made of plastics, clip part 20 punched by a piece of metal and elastic pressing piece 21 made by a metal bar.
The said sliding piece 15 can slide in the connector main body 1. The contact piece 4 and electric connector 7 are elastic contact under normal condition. One end of elastic piece 21 is fixed in the connector main body 1 and another end is pressed on the sliding piece 15. The elastic force of elastic piece 21 is bigger than the elastic force of moving contactor piece. After the elastic piece 21 is elastically pressed on the sliding piece 15, the sliding piece 15 will jack the moving contactor piece 4 and make it separate from the electric connector 7. The said clip piece 20 has clapping part 24 for clapping contact piece 4. When the contact piece 4 moves to the clapping part 24 on the clip piece 20, it will be clamped by the clapping part 24.

The said clip piece 20 has the jack part 23, which makes sliding piece 15 spring up and the clapping part 24 separate from the moving contactor piece 4. The said contact electrodes 2 and 3 are concentric ring structure fixed on the connector main body 1 and connected with the moving contactor piece 4. On the sliding piece 15 top part 27 located in a ring channel of contact electrodes 2 and 3 is provided. When the said electric connector in the invention is connected with another matching electric connector, the top part 27 will be contacted with another electric connector to make the sliding piece 15 move upwards, while the moving contactor piece 4 will be connected with the electric connector 7. The power circuit is under connection state. When the temperature sensitive bimetal piece 10 is warped due to heating, heating-dry control apical rod 11 jacks up the moving contactor piece 4 and make it separate from the electric connector 7, at this time the power circuit is in the disconnected condition and at same time the moving contactor piece 4 is clamped by the clapping part 24 on the clip piece 20, though the sensitive heating bimetal piece 10 resets, the moving contactor piece 4 will not contact the electric connector 7 till the two electric connectors separate i. e. by manually, so the sliding piece 15 will slides downwards because losing the action force applied on top part 27 by another electric connector and at same time to push the top part 23 of the clip piece 20 to make the clip piece 20 to jack up to one side till the clapping part 24 separates from the moving contactor piece 4 to make the moving contactor piece 4 contact the electric connector 7 again.
Besides, before the said electric connector is connected with the electric connector matching with it, the slide piece can jack the moving contactor piece to make it separate from the electric connector, after the electrode is contacted, an action force is applied on the sliding piece to make it slide and the moving contactor piece to spring back to contact with the electric connector to connect the power circuit. Before the electrode of the electric connector is separated, the sliding piece automatically slides to jack the contact piece and to make it separate from the electric connector and finally make the electrode separate. On the contact points of

the moving contactor piece and the electric connector there should be provided a silver contact with good anti-oxidation performance to avoid arc caused by the contact of the electrode, so the service life will be greatly increased and good electric performance will be provided.
The said connector main body 1 has metal cover 12, the spring piece 19 fixed with fusing fastener 17 is provided on the metal cover 12. The end of the spring piece 19 is fixed on the metal cover 12 through fastener 18. The fusing point temperature of fusing fastener 17 is higher than temperature of heating action of the temperature sensitive bimetal piece 10, the fusing control apical rod 16 is provided between the spring 19 and the contact piece 6, the moving contactor piece 6 and the electric connector 7 is elastically contacted under normal condition. When the temperature of the metal cover 12 rises to the fusing temperature of the fusing fastener 17 and the fusing fastener 17 is melt, the spring 19 is elastic downwards to push fusing control apical rod 16 to jack the moving contactor piece 6 to make it separate from the electric connector 7 to guarantee cut off of the power circuit between the moving contactor piece 6 and the electric connector 7 to realize double protections when the heating-dry protection structure controlled with the temperature sensitive bimetal piece 10 fails. When using it, only the moving contactor pieces 4 and 6 are connected in serial with the electric connector 7 in the power circuit, the power off or on in the circuit can be controlled by the temperature.
The said electric connector of the invention is installed in the electric heater.
When the water in the electric heater is dried out with heating, the temperature sensitive bimetal piece 10 will act by heating to cut off the power source and does not reset till it is reset manually, the electric heater will not have on and off phenomena. Once the heating-dry protection mechanism controlled by the temperature sensitive bimetal piece 10 fails, the fusing control apical rod 16 for the temperature safe control will jack up the moving contactor piece 6 to separate it from the electric connector 7, effectively protect the electric heater, so avoid

damage of the electric heater and improve the safety of the electric heater.
Fig 13-14 show the electric heater. The said electric heater of the invention includes container 28, base 29, electric heater 30, upper electric connector 31, lower electric connector 32, the said upper electric connector 31 is the abovementioned electric connector of the invention, so the detailed structure and the working principle will not be described here.
The said sliding piece 15 can be equipped with the top 27 which can be installed on the base 29.

The said contact electrodes 2 and 3 are fixed on the ring type structure of the connector main body 1. The said top 27 is set in the ring channel 33. The electric connector 32 is equipped with the ring type convex ring 34 set in the ring type channel 33.
On the said sliding piece 15 the top 27 is provided which can be fit on the lower electric connector 32.
The said top 27 is provided on the connector main body 1 and in the channel 33 where the lower electrical connector 32 can be installed.
The said channel 33 is the ring type structure, the said contact electrodes 2 and 3 are the ring type structure and installed in the channel 33.
When the container 28 is placed on the base 29, if the top 27 has upward action caused by the base 29, the electric connector 32 and ring type convex ring 34, the moving contactor piece 4 will contact the electric connector 7, and the electric heater 30 is under power on and heating condition, when the water in the container is dried by heating, the temperature sensitive bimetal piece 10 is heated and acted to disconnect the power source, the electric heater 30 is disconnected and stop dry heating till taking up the container 28, then the moving contactor piece 4 and the electric connector 7 are reset and contacted, the electric heater can be filled with

water and reset again. The invention improves electric safety under dry heating state, the reset and use is convenient. Because the top 27 is fit in the channel 33, if the fingers do touch electrode 2 and 3, it will not reach top 27, even if the electrodes 2 and 3 are touched, if the top 27 is not pushed, electrode 2 and 3 will not be energized when they are touched, and thus safety performance of the electric apparatus has been greatly improved. It has features of non-oxidation of the contact electrode, long service life of the product and good safety performance.

Claims (15)

Claims
1. A kind of temperature controller, includes the controller main body (1), moving contactor piece (9), electric connection part (7), temperature sensitive bimetal piece (10) adhered on the heating surface and heating-dry control apical rod (11) located between the temperature sensitive bimetal piece (10) and the moving contactor piece (4), wherein the said moving contactor piece (4) is pressed on the electric connection parts (7) under the normal condition, a sliding part (15) in the controller main body (1), pressing part (21) on the sliding part (15) and the clip part (20) on the moving contactor piece (4).
2. The temperature controller according to the claim 1, wherein the clapping part (24) is provided on the said clip part (20), which can clamp the moving contactor piece (4).
3. The temperature controller according to the claim 2, wherein it includes the jack part (23), which contacts the sliding part (15) on the said clip part (20) to make the clapping part (24) and the moving contactor piece (4) to separate.
4. The temperature controller according to the claim 1,2 or 3, wherein the top (27) is provided on the said sliding part (15).
5. A kind of electric connector which includes controller main body (1), moving contactor piece (4), electric connection part (7), contact electrode (2) and (3) connecting the electric connection part (7), temperature sensitive bimetal piece (10) which can be adhered on the heating surface and heating-dry control apical rod (11) located between the temperature sensitive bimetal piece (10) and the moving contactor piece (4), wherein the said moving contactor piece (4) is pressed on the electric connection parts (7) under the normal condition, in the controller main body (1) the sliding part (15), pressing part (21) pressed on the sliding part (15) and the clip part (20) clamped on the moving contactor piece (4) are provided.
6. The electric connector according to claim 5, wherein the clapping part (24) is provided on

the clip part (20), which can clamp the moving contactor piece (4).
7. The electric connector according to claim 6, wherein the jack part (23) is provided on the clip part (20), which contacts the sliding part (15) to make the clapping part (24) and the moving contactor piece (4) to separate.
8. The electric connector according to claim 7, wherein the said top (27) is on the controller main body (1) and the lower electric connector (32) can be located in the channel (33).
9. The electric connector according to claim 8, wherein the channel (33) is a ring type structure, the said contact electrode (2) and (3) are the ring type structure located in the channel (33).

A kind of electric heater, which includes container (28), base (29), electric heater (30) installed on the container (28), matching insert upper electric connector (31) and lower electric connector (32) on the base (29), the said upper electric connector (31) includes the controller main body (1), the moving contactor piece (4), electric connector (7) connecting the electric heater (3), contact electrode (2) and (3) connecting the electric connector (7) and inserting with the electric connector (32), the temperature sensitive bimetal piece (10) adhered on the heating surface of the container (28), heating-dry control apical rod (11) located between the temperature sensitive bimetal piece (10) and the moving contactor piece (4), wherein the said moving contact piece (4) is sprung on the electric connector (7) under the normal condition, the controller main body (1) has the sliding piece (15), spring piece (21) sprung on the sliding piece (15) and the clip piece (20), which can be clipped on the moving contactor piece (4).
11. The electric heater according to the claim 10, wherein the clapping part (24) is provided on the clip part (20), which can clamp the moving contactor piece (4).
12. The electric heater according to the claim 11, wherein the jack part (23) is provided on the clip part (20), which contacts the sliding part (15) to make the clapping part (24) and the moving contactor piece (4) to separate.
13. The electric heater according to the claim 11 or claim 12, wherein on the said sliding part (15), the said top (27) is provided on which the lower electric

connector (32) can be set.
14. The electric heater according to the claim 13, wherein the said top (27) is located in the controller main body (1) and is set in the channel (33) of the lower electric connector (32).
15. The electric heater according to the claim 14, wherein the said channel (33) is ring type structure and the said contact electrode (2) and (3) is the ring type structure set in the channel (33).
