Abstract
A wind turbine for generating electricity is disguised as a tree to make wind farms more visually acceptable. The turbine includes a rotor with a vertical axis of rotation and blades whose pitch is adjusted according to their position in a rotational cycle.
Description
The device is an attempt at making wind farms more visually acceptable at a distance. In order to fit a wind generator of electricity into a tree shape, it is necessary to have the axis of the propellers in a vertical direction as opposed to the normal horizontal one. It also necessitates a mechanical way of making each blade in turn present a horizontal edge profile to the wind as the other three are presenting vertical faces.
Claims (6)
- CLAIMS 1 A tree outline constructed of any strong material capable of withstanding the strongest known winds
- 2 An Insert within the outline of claim1 which has the function of a windmill
- 3 The windmill of claim 2 has a vertical axis of rotation and an appropriate number of vanes
- 4 The windmill of claim 2 has a trip device which vane of the windmill in turn to a horizontal (minimal) presentation to the wind
- 5. The wmdmill in claim 2 has an internal connection to an electric generator either In the trunk of the tree or buned underground
- 6. There is a device that has the function of turning all the above claims to maximise presentation to the wind
