Abstract

A fastener such as a bolt, screw, nut or washer has a series of spikes or teeth on a bearing surface which is engageable with a workpiece. The spikes or teeth can grip the workpiece to lock the fastener against relative rotation with respect to the workpiece.

Description

Bolt grin device applicable to any stud/bolt/head/washer/nut assembly.
Historical Backsround and Purpose of invention.
Traditionally, assembly of metal plates, wooden panels or other multiple surfaces has used the nut, bolt and washer approach. In situations where the application of materials has been large or has contained difficult access problems, additional labour has been necessary to hold, or otherwise immobilise the locking nut. This usually meant two men with spanners either side of the work ensuring that the separate parts of the nut and bolt did not rotate freely during assembly. The purpose of this device is to prevent the rotation of these parts and to remove the necessity for any additional operatives involved in manufacturing processes.
Description of Methodology Simply, this device involves the addition of two or more penetrating points affixed during manufacture to the underneath, or contact surface of the relevant nut or bolt.
This device embraces all of the following features :a. The use of penetrating points of any size affixed to any surface of any bolt/nut/screw/washer/stud or other threaded device encompassing the full or partial width of the head or face or underside of said fixing device, in both single and multiple orbits b The use of triangular or pyramid-shaped penetrating points of any size affixed to any surface of any bolt/nut/screw/washer or other threaded device, encompassing the full or partial width of the head or face or underside of said fixing device, in both single and multiple orbits c. The use of multi-pointed, or multi-faceted additions to the above fixatives. d. The use of any number of multi-pointed, or multi-faceted additions to the above fixatives e. The use of any combination of such devices, from one to ten (provisionally) affixed to the above devices.
The device that this copvnsht apples to shall consist soleil or the following attributes : 1. In use with, for or part of, any industry standard bolt fixing.
2 in use with, for or part of. any industry standard nut or washer fixing 3. In use with, for or part of, any industry standard stud, screw or other tapped, or self-tapping fixing.
4. The principles shall apply to any dimension fixing, and to any fixing face from propriety sizes and including bespoke fittings.
5. It should be noted that one of the main principles of this design is the elimination of the need for any extra manual aid or assistance in the manipulation of these fixing devices 6 It should also be noted that the fixing device is not restricted to a single media type

Claims (6)

CLAIMS.
1. A bolt gripping device that removes the necessity for additional assistance via spanner applied or held by an additional operative.
2. A bolt gripping device as claimed in claim I that locks permanently upon tightening, rendering it secure against rotation and other forms of loosening during use.
3. A bolt-gripping device as claimed in claim 1 that consists of a series of points that pierce, but not penetrate the surfaces of the materials being joined.
4. A bolt gripping device as claimed in claim 1 that eliminates the need for additional manual assistance during the tightening-up procedure.
5. A Bolt gripping device that is made from any of the usual materials applicable to nuts, screws, bolts and studs.
6. A bolt gripping device substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
