Abstract

A lifting apparatus is described which comprises two lifting members (1, 2) connected through a fulcrum point (8), each lifting member (1, 2) having a first portion (3) separated from the respective first portion (4) of the other member by a jacking means (5), and a second portion providing a hub (10, 11) on which a wheel means (12, 13) is mounted, wherein the perpendicular distance of the fulcrum point (8) from the longitudinal axis of the jacking means (5) is greater than the perpendicular distance from the hubs (10, 11) to said axis, so that operation of the jacking means (5) lifts the fulcrum point (8).
