Abstract
235,812. Blackman, A. Feb. 21, 1925. Filters having sheet filtering - materials; filters with loose filtering-materials.-A filter, more particularly for petrol, comprising a casing having an inlet d below and an outlet e above the filtering means n and a sump g and drain cock below the inlet, is provided with a detachable perforated coned disc k between the inlet d and the sump g to prevent impurities being thrown on the filter. The ends b, c of the casing may be detachable, and a sleeve f integral with the end c may carry filtering means consisting of gauzes n, held between L-section rings m. Split wire rings hold rings m and cone k in position. Fibrous and textile materials, felt, or cotton wool may be packed between the gauzes n. In a modification the sump is integral with the casing and the cone. is attached by a stem and wing nut to the filtering means which rests on a step in the casing so that the cone and filtering means may be withdrawn together on removing the screwed upper end.
