Abstract

Disclosed is a connection method for a TCP/IP network (for example, the internet), for providing a common dial-up user to get access to the TCP/IP network by driving another remote computer or facilities to link to the TCP/IP network, and in particular for providing the user access to data from a remote computer and to disconnect from said remote computer at the end of use. The dial-up connection may be direct or indirect. In a remote dial-up direct connection, the network connection control server (7) will start the dial-up procedure according to the connection information of user (1<SP>1</SP>) upon receipt of a command sent from the user (1<SP>1</SP>) via the remote node (6) to initiate the connection to the destination computer (2). After connecting to the destination computer (2), the network connection control server (7) will transmit the connection identification information to the destination computer (2). After the destination computer (2) verifies the connection identification information, the destination computer (2) may establish its TCP/IP network datalink based on an IP address, either sent by the network connection control server (7) or previously assigned to the destination computer (2). Once a safe connection is acknowledged, the network connection control server (7) sends the IP address to the user (1<SP>1</SP>), enabling the user (1<SP>1</SP>) to access the destination computer (2) by the IP address.
