Abstract
A two piece button has a base (Fig 4) which is sewn to the clothing and a top (Fig 27) which is removably attached to the base and can be changed to alter the appearance. As shown, the top and base are joined by a threaded fitting and the base may include one or more tags which engage with an audible "click" with a corresponding formation on the top when the latter has been screwed fully into position. This arrangement avoids over-tightening of the threads while preventing the top from coming loose. The top may alternatively be a press fit (Figs 6 - 21) on the base, which may then be a conventional button. The button may be of metal, plastic or rubber.
Description
BUTTON/FABRIC BUTTON
This invention relates to the Button used for holding clothings for male, female, man, woman, boy, girl, ladies and gents, like shirts, pants (trousers) and so on.
The commonly used buttons degrade the looks of the clothing. The four small holes used to attach the button to the clothing, with threads in it affect the aesthetic value of the clothing. Also once these button are fixed they cannot be changed to different looks unless they are totally detached (removed) from the clothing.
These disadvantages can be overcome by using TWO-PIECE BUTTON which is the subject of this application. It consists of two parts 1) Base and 2) Top. The base is fixed to the clothing and the top fits on the base. The top can be thread fit or press fit. The top can be changed as frequently as required, without removing the base, for different new looks.
The base can be the same for both the types, difference is in the top. Again, the top has two basic looks like 1) Plain and 1) Sieve.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which :
Figure 1 shows the bottom view of the base.
Figure 2 is the top view of the base part.
Figure 3 shows the side view of the base.
Figure 4 shows the perspective (isometric) view of the base with top side fully visible.

Base:-This is the commonly used button. It is circular in shape with some added features. Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3, Figure 4 and Figure 5 all describe the base. The two small little tags as seen in Figure 2, Figure 3 and Figure 4 are used with thread fit top as a lock to prevent the top from coming out, so that top remains fixed with the base. The tags also protect from extra-tightening of the top. Extra-tightening may become a big problem while replacing the top.
Figure 3 shows threading on the periphery of the base, which is required for thread fit top. The threading can be avoided for the press fit top.
Top :- 1) Press fit:-Figure 6 upto Figure 21 are for press fit top. Figure 6 shows the bottom view with small circular arcs. Figure 11 shows the bottom view with inner circular ring.
To fit this top to the base just hold it exactly on the base and press it. To remove push outside from the bottom of the base the top assembly from one side. Top shown in figure 6 is easier to remove.
2) Thread fit :-Figure 22 upto Figure 33 are for thread fit top. Figure 22 and Figure 24 show the small vertical tag. The tag has some amount of flexibility which allows to get locked easily with the tag in the base. Again the tag in the top can be flexible or not depending on the requirement.
Figure 26 and Figure 27 also show the tag with some difference. They show a small rectangular tag in addition to the tag in Figure 22 and Figure 24. This tag is attached to the tag in Figure 22 and Figure 24. This gives the tag in Figure 22 and Figure 24 extra support and makes it more strong. The tag in Figure 22 and Figure 24 are made (at once) as one piece with the top while manufacturing, like in a single die. The tag in Figure 26 and Figure 27 can be manufactured separately and then fixed manually or by machine using some adhesive.
To fit this top, place it on the base and rotate it clockwise (towards right hand side) slowly till you hear a click noise. The tag on the top fits inbetween the two tags in the base. The top can be removed by rotating it anti-clockwise (towards left hand side).
