BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to wood working table, and more particularly to such a wood working table which enables the wood working toot for example a scroll saw to be smoothly moved along the desired angle when operated to cut the workpiece.
A wood working table is a requisite equipment used in wood working jobs such as sawing, cutting, planing, grinding, nailing and drilling works. However, conventional wood working tables are not convenient in use for unprofessional workers.
SUMMARY OF IRE INVENTION
Is According to one aspect of the present invention, the wood working table comprises a table having equally spaced mounting holes, a rule and a graduated scale integral at the top, and a toot carrier assembly mounted on the table to hold a wood working tool for example a scroll saw, wherein the tool carrier assembly comprises a fence having a fixed pivoted to one mounting hole and a free end aimed at the graduated scale, a fixture mounted in one mounting hole on the table to hold down the free end of the fence, two 1 mounting rods mounted in the mounting holes on the table, a carriage hinged to the mounting rods for holding the wood working tool, and a locating rod mounted in one mounting hole on the table to hold down the carriage. According to another aspect of the present invention, the rail is adjustably fastened to transverse sliding slots on the carriage by screw bolts to guide the movement of the wood working tool. According to still another aspect of the present invention, the mounting rods can be lifted in the respective mounting holes on the table to change the elevation of the carriage subject to the thickness of the workpiece.

DETAILED DESCR2MN OF THE PREFERRE Referring to Figures from 1 to 4, a wood working 10 table in accordance with the present invention is generally comprised of a table 10, and a tool carrier assembly 20. Equally spaced and intersected longitudinal and transverse lines 11 are provided at the top surface of the rectangular table top of the table 10. A plurality of mounting holes 12 are respectively provided at the intersected points of the lines 11. A rule 13 which is marked with inch marks and metric marks is provided at the top s-urface of the rectangular table top of the table 10 along its one long side. One, namely, the first longitudinal line which is disposed adjacent to one long side of the rectangular table top of the table 10 remote from the rule 13 is assigned to be a reference line 14. One mounting hole 12a at the reference line 14 is assigned to be the center of a circle, and then a 90 ( or 180') graduated 3 scale 15 is provided at the top surface of the rectangular table top of the table 10 subject to the circle based on the assigned mounting hole 12a.
The tool carrier assembly 20 is mounted on the table 5 10. The tool carrier assembly 20 is comprised of a fence 21,, a fixture 22, a carriage 23, two mounting rods 24, a rail 25 and a locating rod 26. The fence 21 has a pivot 27 at one end mounted in the mounting hole 12a, an index 28 at an opposite end. By means of the pivot 27, the fence 21 can 10 be turned about an axis at the center of the mounting hole 12a, enabling the index 28 to be aimed at the graduated scale 15 at the desired angle. The fixture 22 is comprised of a pressure plate 29, and a screw rod 30 perpendicularly extended from the bottom side of the pressure plate 29. When the pressure plate 29 is pressed on the fence 21, the screw rod 30 is inserted through one mounting hole 12, and then a nut 31 is threaded onto the screw rod 30 to fix the fixture 22 in place (see Figure 4). The carriage 23 comprises a plurality of transverse sliding slots 32 arranged 20 in parallel, and a plurality of barrels 33 aligned at one end. The mounting rods 24 each have a barrel 34 at the top.
The barrels 34 of the mounting rods 24 are respectively connected to the barrels 33 of the carriage 23 by a pivot pin 4 1 35. The rail 25 is transversely slidably mounted on the carriage 23. The rail 25 comprises a plurality of mounting holes 41 releasably fastened to the transverse sliding slots 32 on the carriage 23 by respective screw bolts 36. When installed,, one longitudinal side edge 37 of the rail 25 and the top surface of the carriage 23 form a guide means to guide a motor-driven scroll saw. The locating rod 26 comprises a rod body 40, a head 38 integral with one end of the rod body and a retaining notch 39 defined within the head 38.
When the rod body 40 is inserted into one mounting hole 12 on the table M, the carriage 23 is forced into engagement with the retaining notch 39.
Referring to Figures 5 and 6, and Figures 1, 3 and 4 again, when in use, the fence 21 is turned about the axis at the mounting hole 12a to aim the index 28 at the graduated scale 15 at the desired angle, then the screw rod 30 is inserted in one mounting hole 12 on the table 10 and fixed in place by the nut 31, enabling the pressure plate 29 to be pressed on the fence 21, then the workpiece 50 is placed on the table 10 and stopped at the fence 21 (see Figure 6), and then the mounting rods 24 are respectively mounted in one mounting hole 12b at the reference line 14 adjacent to the mounting hole 12a and an adjacent mounting hole 12c at the j J second longitudinal line to a certain depth subject to the thickness of the workpiece (see Figure 5), enabling the carriage 23 to be supported on the workpiece 50 (a packing pad of thickness equal to the workpiece 50 may be used and inserted in between the carriage 23 and the table 10, enabling the carriage 23 to be stably supported on the workpiece 50), and then the screw bolts 36 are loosened, enabling the rail 25 to be adjusted on the carriage 23 along the transverse sliding slots 32 to the desired position subject to the size of the motor-driven scroll saw 60 used, and then the screw bolts 36 are fastened up after the position of the rail 25 has been adjusted, and then the locating rod 26 is mounted in one mounting hole 12 and turned to force the retaining notch 39 into engagement with the carriage 23 and top stop the carriage 23 in place.
Referring to Figure 7, when the scroll saw 60 is placed on the!carriage 23, the base of the scroll saw 60 is stopped at the longitudinal side edge 37 of the rail 25 and moved along it to cut the workpiece 50. The fence 21 can be adjusted to the desired angle and stopped against one end of the workpiece 50 (see Figure 7). Because the mounting rods 24 are liftably inserted into respective mounting holes 12b;12c on the table 10, the carriage 23 can be adjusted to 6 the desired elevation subject to the thickness of the workpiece 50. When the position of the carriage 23 has been adjusted, the locating rod 26 is installed to hold down the carriage 23.
While only one embodiment of the present invention has been shown and described, it will be understood that various. modifications and changes could be made thereunto without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention disclosed.
