Abstract

A deflated bag 1, has a tube 2, attached. The bag 1 can be connected to a brake bleed nipple by tube 4 via a conical connector 3 and the tube 2. The fluid expelled from the nipple during the bleeding process is collected in the bag. The collected fluid cannot be spilt and once the bag is sealed the fluid may be disposed of. Preferably, a cap 5 is provided and the tube 2 has a one-way valve.

Description

This invention is for use with hydraulic systems to enable the safe and clean collection of fluid expelled during bleeding of the system.
Usually during a bleeding operation the expelled fluid is collected in an open mouthed jar or similar container. Such jars are easily knocked over, spilling the fluid. Safe disposal of the old fluid also poses problems.
This invention allows the fluid to be collected in a bag.
Once the fluid has been collected the bag may then be sealed @@ allow safe disposal of the old fluid.
The bag and associated tubing are made from flexible materials resistant to fluid to be bled.
The device consists of a flexible impervious bag (Ref 1) to which at one end is attached a flexible tube (Ref 2). The bag to tube joint is air-tight such that the only entry to the bag is through the lumen of the tube (Ref 2). The other end of the tube is fitted with a conical piece (Ref 3) to allow thre attachment of other tubes of various diameters (Ref 4). A cap (Ref 5) of matching taper is attached to the tapered part (Ref 3) to prevent the ingress of air or dirt, before use.
In use, the bag (Ref 1) starts flat and may either be placed on the floor or hung from a hook. A suitable tube (Ref 4) is attached to the bleed nipple and the other end to the conical adaptor (Ref 3) at the bag. When the nipple is opened the fluid is bled in to the bag (Ref 1). Once bleeding is complete the nipple may be tightened and the tubing either attached to the next nipple or @@ bleeding is complete, the conical cap (Ref 5) be replaced. The expelled fluid and air may now be safely disposed of and there is no opportunity for spillage.

  1. CLAIMS 1) A deflated bag with attached tube for collection of 11u1d.
  2. 2) A deflated bag with attached tube for collection of fluid wherein the tube incorporates a one way valve to allow one person to bleed the system.
  3. 3) A deflated bag with attached tube for collection of fluid as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 with a second tube attached to the bag to allow drainage of fluid from the bag.
