Abstract
A combined ladder/trolley includes a first supporting frame (11), a second supporting frame (12) having an upper end pivotally connected to an upper end of the first supporting frame, and a number of steps (13, 14) mounted to the first supporting frame and spaced along a longitudinal direction of the first supporting frame. Each step has a longitudinal side pivotally connected to the first supporting frame. A number of pairs of supporting beams each include a first end pivotally connected to a lateral side of an associated step and a second end pivotally connected to the second supporting frame. A wheel means (20) is rotatably attached to a lower end (112) of the first supporting frame. A carrier plate (30) has a side pivotally connected to the second supporting frame.
Description
Combined Ladder/Trolley
The present invention relates to a combined ladder/trolley.
Ladders and trolleys are sometimes used in daily lives. The present invention is intended to provide a combined ladder/trolley to save cost and space for storage.
A combined ladder/trolley in accordance with the present invention comprises a first supporting frame, a second supporting frame having an upper end pivotally connected to an upper end of the first supporting frame, and a plurality of steps mounted to the first supporting frame and spaced along a longitudinal direction of the first supporting frame, each step having a longitudinal side pivotally connected to the first supporting frame.
A plurality of pairs of supporting beams are provided and each include a first end pivotally connected to a lateral side of an associated step and a second end pivotally connected to the second supporting frame. A wheel means is rotatably attached to the lower end of the first supporting frame. A carrier plate has a side pivotally connected to the second supporting frame. Preferably, a member is provided for releasably retaining the carrier plate in a storage position.
Other objects, advantages, and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a combined ladder/trolley in accordance with the present invention;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the combined ladder/trolley used as a ladder;
Fig. 3 is a side view of the combined ladder/trolley in Fig. 2;
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the combined ladder/trolley used as a trolley;
Fig. 5 is a side view of the combined ladder/trolley in Fig. 4; and
Fig. 6 is a side view of the combined ladder/trolley in a storage status.
Referring to the drawings and initially to Fig. 1, a combined ladder/trolley in accordance with the present invention generally includes a main frame 10, a wheel means 20, and a carrier plate 30. The main frame 10 includes a first supporting frame 11, a second supporting frame 12, and a number of steps 13, 14. The first supporting frame 11 includes two limbs (not labeled) and an inverted U-section 111 interconnecting upper ends of the limbs. Each limb has a lower end 112 which will be described later. In this embodiment, the second supporting frame 12 includes a pair of supporting rods 12 each having an upper end pivotally connected to the upper end of the associated limb of the first supporting frame 11 by a connecting member 121 and a lower end 122. Each step 13, 14 includes a first side pivotally connected between the limbs of the first supporting frame 11. Two pairs of supporting beams 131, 141 are provided and each include a first end pivotally connected to an associated supporting rod 12 and a second end pivotally connected to a lateral side of an associated step 13, 14.
The wheel means 20 includes a pair of wheels 21 connected by an axle 22. In addition, a pair of brackets 23 are provided to interconnect the wheel means 20 to the first supporting frame 11. In this embodiment, each bracket 23 includes a first section 232 secured to the lower end of an associated limb of the first supporting frame 11 and a second section 231 having a hole 2311 through which the axle 22 is rotatably extended. The carrier plate 30 includes a first end pivotally connected to the lower ends 122 of the supporting rods 12 by two connecting members 31.
Referring to Figs. 2 and 3, when used as a ladder, the first supporting frame 11 and the second supporting frame 12 are in an extended status in which the lower ends 112 of the limbs of the first supporting frame 11 and the lower ends 122 of the supporting rods 12 are on the ground, while the wheels 21 are elevated from the ground. In addition, the carrier plate 30 is retained in a storage position by a member 40 (Fig. 3).
Referring to Figs. 4 and 5, when used as a trolley, the first supporting frame 11 and the second supporting frame 12 are in a collapsed status, and the carrier plate 30 is pivoted to an operative position. The whole device is in an inclined status to make the wheels 21 on the ground so as to serve as a trolley. The ladder/trolley in Fig. 6 is in a storage status to save space.
According to the above description, it is appreciated that the ladder/trolley of the present invention is convenient, useful, and cost-saving.
Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
