Abstract

A self adhesive postage stamp comprises a layer 10 of paper or the like, an adhesive layer 11 and a non stick peel off protective layer 12. In order to use the stamp the non stick peel off protective layer 12 must be peeled off the reverse side of the stamp and the stamp placed in position allowing the self adhesive layer 11 to adhere it to a surface. The edges of the stamp may be serrated or straight. The front of the stamp may carry a picture or design.

Description

SELF ADHESIVE POSTAGE STAMPS This invention relates to self adhesive postage stamps.
Postage stamps are well known which comprise of a serrated paper or other material shape in various sizes with a picture on the front side and a gum coating on the reverse side. The gum must be moistened to allow the postage stamp to be fixed onto a surface.
The stamp gum coating has an undesirable taste when generally moistened with the tongue after several stamps. Moreover this is a very unhygenic practice.
According to the present invention there is provided a self adhesive layer on the reverse of the postage stamp covered by a non stick peel off protective layer, the layer being adapted to easily peel off.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 shows in perspective, the various layers of the stamp.
Figure 2 illustrates the removal of the non stick peel off protective layer.
Figure 3 shows the stamp adhered in position in normal use.
Referring to the drawing the stamp comprises of a paper or other material shape 10, an adhesive layer 11 and a non stick peel off protective layer 12. In order to use the stamp the non stick peel off protective layer 12 must be peeled off the reverse side of the stamp and the stamp placed in position allowing the self adhesive layer 11 to adhere it to a surface.

Claims (6)

  1. A A self adhesive postage stamp comprising of a paper or other material shape, a self adhesive layer and a non stick peel off protective layer.
  2. 2 A self adhesive postage stamp as claimed in Claim 1 with a picture on the front side of the paper or other material shape.
  3. 3 A self adhesive postage stamp as claimed in Claim 1 with a design on the front side of the paper or other material shape.
  4. 4 A self adhesive postage stamp as claimed in Claim 1 with a serrated edge to the paper or other material shape.
  5. 5 A self adhesive postage stamp as claimed in Claim I with a straight edge to the paper or other material shape.
  6. 6 A self adhesive postage stamp substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1 - 3 of the accompanying drawing.
