Abstract
An electrical connector including a first shell at one end, a second shell at an opposite end, an iron core disposed between the first shell and the second shell, and a plurality of electrical contact means respectively inserted through respective contact holes on the iron core, each electrical contact means having two opposite ends respectively extended out of the first shell and the second shell through a respective contact hole on each shell.
Description
NOISE-INTERFERENCE-PREVENTIVE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to electrical connectors, and relates more particularly to a noiseinterference preventive electrical connector which effectively eliminates interference of magnetic noises.
Various methods and devices have been developed and used in electrical connectors for protection against interference of noises. For example, Figure 1 shows an iron core (11) mounted around the cable (10) to eliminate interference of noises.
However, because the cable (10) has several conductors, the iron core (11) cannot effectively filter noises from each conductor in the cable (10). Furthermore, the installaticn of the iron core (11) gives a pressure to the adjacent electrical connector at one end of the cable (10). Figure 2 shows an iron core (14) mounted between the welding contacts (13) of the electrical connector (12) to block up outside noises. However, this method is not suitable for use in precision electrical connectors of which the pitch of the contacts is as small as 1.27mm. Furthermore, when the electrical connector (12) is disconnected from the electrical circuit, the iron core (13) can no longer be used. Figure 3 shows another noise prevention method, in which an iron core (17) is mounted between the PC board (15) and each electronic component (16). Because a PC board comprises a variety of electronic components, a big number of iron cores shall be used and mounted between the PC board and the electronic components.
Therefore, this method is not economic.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the electrical connector comprises two shells, an iron core connected between the shells, a plurality of electrical contacts inserted through respective contact holes on the iron core, each electrical contact having two opposite ends respectively extended out of the shells through a respective contact hole on each shell.
According to another aspect of the present invention, a PC board is mounted between the iron core and one shell and welded between the contacts on the iron core and respective contacts on one shell.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
Referring to Figures 4 and 5, a noisepreventive electrical connector in accordance with the present invention is generally comprised of two opposite shells, namely, the first shell 20 and the second shell 30, an iron core 50, and a plurality of contacts 40.
The shell 20 or 30 has a plurality of contact holes 21 or 31. The iron core 50 has a plurality of contact holes 51 corresponding to the contact holes 21 and 31 of the shells 20 and 30. The contacts 40 are respectively inserted through the contact holes 21 and 31 of the shells 20 and 30 and the contact holes 51 of the iron core 50, each contact having a middle section 44 inserted in one contact hole 51 of the iron core 50, a collar 43 raised around the periphery and stopped between the first shell 20 and the iron core 50, a first contact end 41 inserted through one contact hole 21 of the first shell 20 and extended out of the first shell 20, and a second contact end 42 inserted through one contact hole 31 of the second shell 30 and extended out of the second shell 30.
Figures 6 and 7 show an alternate form of the present invention, in which each contact 400 has one end 402 inserted through a respective contact hole 201 on the first shell 200 and extended out of the first shell 200, and an opposite end 401 inserted through a respective contact hole 501 on the iron core 500 and then welded to a PC board 60 at one side; the second shell 300 has a plurality of contacts 303 respectively welded to the PC board 60 at an opposite side and electrically connected to the contacts 400.
Figure 8 shows another alternate form of the present invention, in which two PC boards 601 and 602 are respectively connected between an iron core 501 and two opposite shells 201 and 301; a plurality of contacts 402 are respectively inserted through respective contact holes 502 on an iron core 501 and welded between the PC boards 601 and 602; each shell 201 or 301 has respective contacts 202 or 302 respectively welded to one PC board 601 or 602 opposite to the contacts 402.
Figure 9 shows an application of the present invention, in which a display 90 is connected to a computer 70 by a cable 80, and an electrical connector 100 is connected between one end of the cable 80 and the display 90 to filter noises from the cable 80.
It is to be understood that the drawings are designed for purposes of illustration only, and are not intended as a definition of the limits and scope of the invention disclosed.
