Abstract

Permanent formwork for beams and columns comprises reinforced concrete mouldings of channel or tubular form respectively. The mouldings are reinforced with mesh, and their inside surfaces will have a rough finish. The ends of the mouldings are rebated to facilitate their interconnection, and grout is used between the end faces. Similar mouldings, e.g. of T- or X-shape are used to connect the beam or column mouldings at junctions.

Description

STRUCTURAL MOULDINGS This invention relates to structural mouldings.
Traditionally in construction, reinforced concrete beams and columns are made by using form work which takes time and also costs a lot of money. Where the form work is made of wood, there is also a lot of wastage as often the form work is damaged on removal or it may have to be cut to fit the dimensions of the next beam or column that it will be required for.
The present invention consists of structural mouldings which are made from reinforced concrete, and are designed to replace the traditional form work while being incorporated into the actual structure of the beam or column. The mouldings will be linked by connection recesses to achieve the required length or height.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be descnbed by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a section of a moulding for a beam; Figure 2 shows a corner moulding for connecting two beams at a right angle.
Figure 3 shows a moulding for connecting four beams in the centre of a building Figure 4 shows a moulding for a T joint connecting beams at right angles to each other.
Figure 5 shows a moulding for a column.
The mouldings are fitted together with cement grout injected between the connection recesses.
All steel work will be placed inside of the mouldings after which concrete is pored in to cast the structure. All mouldings will be reinforced by mesh and their inside surfaces will be rough finished so as to facilitate better adherence to the concrete.
The dimensions in millimetres for the mouldings are as follows:- in figure 1, A=900, B=by order, C=by order, E=wall thickness to be 50mm minimum, to accommodate mesh reinforcement. Any reduction in thickness will be subject to further design considerations.

In Figure 3, A=900, B=900, C=by order, D=by order, E= as for figure 1.
In Figure 4, A=900, B=by order, C=by order, E=as for figure 1.
In Figure 5, A=by order, B=by order, C-900, E=as for figure 1.
All connection recesses to be 25 mm x 25 mm, and Types l-A -4-A, noted in Figures 1 to 4 are to be void to accommodate column connection.

Claims (1)

  1. CLAMS
    The present invention consists of structural mouldings which are made from reinforced concrete, and are designed to replace the traditional form work while being incorporated into the actual structure of the beam or column. The mouldings will be linked by connection recesses to achieve the required length or height.
    It will be evident to those skilled in the art that the invention is not limited to the details of the foregoing illustrative embodiment, and that the present invention may be embodied in other forms without departing from the essential attributes thereof, and it is illustrative and not restrictive, reference being made to the appended claim rather than to the foregoing description, and all variations which come within the meaning and range of equivalency of the claim are therefore intended to be embraced therein.
