Abstract

The apparatus comprises a hood having a visor of clear plastics or laminate, a breathing mask fixed inside the hood, two air filters and an exhaust valve which also allows the user to be heard if speaking. Elastic is sewn into the hood so that, when the hood is placed over the head, the mask is pulled over the nose and mouth of the user. The hood may be of heat-resistant cloth including heat and light reflective material. <IMAGE>

Description

SELF RESCUER THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A SELF RESCUER.
THE INVENTION IS A HEAT AND SMOKE SHIELD/HOOD WHICH PROTECTS THE HEAD OF THE USER. THE HOOD CAN BE MADE OF ANY HEAT RESISTANT CLOTH INCLUDING HEAT AND LIGHT REFLECTIVE MATERIAL. THE VISOR IS MADE OF CLEAR PLASTIC OR LAMINATE WHICH GIVES THE USER CLEAR VISION.
THE PRESENT INVENTION WILL BE MORE FULLY UNDERSTOOD BY REFERENCE TO THE FOLLOWING DESCRIPTIONS THEREOF WHEN READ IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE ATTACHED DRAWINGSIPHOTOS: FIGURE 1 IS A FRONT VIEW OF THE SELF RESCUER OF THE PRESENT INVENTION.
FIGURE 2 IS A SIDE VIEW WHICH SHOWS THE FULLY COVERED SHIELD/HOOD WHICH PROTECT THE HEAD OF THE USER.
THE MASK IS MADE OF RUBBER OF ANY FLEXIBLE MATERIAL (1) WITH AIR FILTERS (2) AND AN EXHAUST VALVE ATTACHED (3). ELASTIC IS SEWN INTO THE HOOD (4) IN SUCH MANNER THAT CAUSES THE MASK TO BE DRAWN TO THE USERS FACE COVERING THEIR MOUTH AND NOSE WHEN THE HOOD IT WORN THE BREATHING MASK (5) IS FIXED TO THE INSIDE OF THE HOOD WITH TWO AIR FILTERS (2) AND ONE EXHAUST VALVE EXTERNAL TO THE HOOD (3). THE USER PLACES THE HOOD OVER THE HEAD. THE FU(ED ELASTIC STRAPS (4) PULL THE MASK OVER THE NOSE AND MOUTH OF THE USER. AIR IS DRAWN INTO THE MASK AND THEREFORE THE LUNGS OF THE USERS BY NORMAL BREATHING THROUGH FILTERS (2). VARIOUS FILTERS (2) CAN BE USED DEPENDING ON THE TYPE AND QUANTITY OF FOREIGN SUBSTANCES THAT ARE DESIRED OF BEING FILTERED OUT.
THE EXHAUST FROM THE MASK (3) IS EXPELLED VIA THE EXHAUST VALVE TO THE OUTSIDE AIR. THIS CONNECTION ALSO ENABLES THE USER TO BE HEARD IF SPEAKING AND USE OTHER DEVISES SUCH AS RADIO TRANSMITTERS OR WALKIE TALKIES. THE VISOR (6) GIVES THE USER CLEAR VISION.

Claims (4)

1. HOOD WITH VISOR TO PROTECT THE HEAD AND SHOULDERS OF THE USER AND ENABLING THEM TO SEE AND MOVE FREELY.
2. AIR FILTERS WHICH FILTER CONTAMINATED AIR.
3. AN EXHAUST VALVE WHICH EXHAUST BREATHED AIR TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE MASK.
4. ENABLES THE USER TO BE HEARD WHEN SPEAKING AND TALK ON A RADIO OR WALKIE TALKIE.
