Abstract

The use of light bulb packaging as a form of an instant lampshade, e.g. a corrugated exterior design is made from a heat resistant paper or material 1 which forms the lampshade. The package is held in shape by the use of a paper or material 4 (not shown in the drawing) that prevents the lampshade forming and enables the light bulb to remain protected. In order for the package to become the instant lampshade and replacement bulb, the strip must be removed. This allows the package to form the lampshade whilst allowing the light bulb 3 to be placed into the light bulb socket. <IMAGE>

Description

Patent Applied: Light Bulb Package as a Form of Instant Lampshade This invention relates to the use of light bulb packaging as a form of an instant lampshade.
The packaging used for light bulbs has always been a relatively simple affair being purely functional for the protection of the light bulb from manufacturer to final purchaser. This packaging once it has performed this protection function is invariably thrown away.
The lampshades used throughout the home are a separate body to the light bulb and are attached as an additional item to the light bulb socket or in some cases the light bulb itself.
According to the present invention there is provided a packaging design that enables the light bulb packaging to become an instant lampshade once the light bulb is placed in the standard light bulb socket without removing the light bulb from it's original packaging.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure I shows Package in its protective form used for transportation.
Figure 2 shows Plan view of the package.
Figure 3 shows Cross-sectional front view A-A of the opened package.
Figure 4 shows Cross-sectional front view A-A of the converted package assembled and attached to light fitting.
Referring to the drawings the packaging is made of suitable material i.e. heat resistant paper or material which forms the lampshade I. Attached to the lampshade is a form of clip 2 which the light bulb 3 fits into and is held securely. Figure I shows the package in its protective form used for transportation.
The packaging is held in the shape shown in Figure I by the use of a strip 4 that prevents the lampshade forming and enables the light bulb to remain protected. Figure 3 shows a cross-sectional front view A-A of the opened package.
In order for the packaging to become the instant lampshade and replacement bulb. the strip 4 must be removed. This allows the packaging to form the lampshade whilst allowing the light bulb to be placed into the light bulb socket 5.
This invention can be applied to any type of light bulb as the packages fittings will be adapted according.

  1. Claim:
    A packaging design that enables the light bulb packaging to become an instant lampshade once the light bulb is placed in the light bulb socket without removing the light bulb from it's original package 2 A light bulb packaging es claimed in claim 1 wherein part of the packaging enables the formation of the instant lampshade 3 A light bulb packaging substantialIy as described herein with reference to figures 1 - 3 of the accompanying drawing.
