Abstract

A cammed lever (2) is provided, attached to the ends of a compound bow, to ease the draw and accelerate the arrow. There is also provided a triple cross-over grooved wheel 7 (Figure 1) to simplify cable change. A ball-crank (Figure 4) may be used as an alternative to the cammed lever. <IMAGE>

LEVERS TO ACCELERATE THE ARROW FROM A SPLIT - LIKED COMPOUND BOQ A SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE TO THE ECCENTRICS AND CAMS CURRENTLY USLD.

PLUS TRIFLE CROSS OVER GROOVED WHEELS WHICH WILL SIMPLIFY CABLE CHANGES.

1 OF 2 - 1. New - Cammed Lever. The shape and size of the cam plus the position of the axle bush - 8 - will vary and determine the draw charactoristics and weight of the bow.

1 A. The lower cable - 4 - to terminate and be anchored in this general area, egO simple loop round lever 1 or by nipple set in lever or upper cam.

1 Bo Renewable bridge.

3 Sling cable hung from axle - 8 - to round centre groove of wheel - 7.

4 Upper cable identical to but opposite to lower cable 5.

7 New - Triple cross over grooved wheel demonstrated in Fig.1 2 of 2. Note centre groove deeper than the two outer, this is to prevent cables 4 & 5 trapping sling 3 under cable cross over and leave sling free to equalise itself and prevent limb twist.

Claims (1)

  1. Claims.
    A Cammed Lever to be mounted on a split limbed compound archery bow of the H.W.Allen type patent. The Purpose of the lever is to ease the draw and accelerate the arrow on loosing the string. If for example the length between the axle and the string nock on the lever is 12cm. and the 0 lever is drawn throgh a 90 arc the nock will have travelled approx. 19cm. and if the cam radius is 5cm. it will draw up almost 8cm. of cable, as the cable is connected to the axle of the opposite lever which in turn will be going through the same operation each limb will bend only 4cm.
    On loosing the bowstring the 4cm. movement of the limbs will translate to jqtin. at the tips of the levers.
    The levers will also give the compound a true centre shot.
    The function of the Triple grooved wheel with the cross over feature is to simplify the cable changes, it will enable the archer to renew his cables in the field instead of having to send the bow back to agents to have the cable fitted, which can result in the bow being out of action for some time.
