Abstract

Making packing-discs and rings.-Natural-cork packing-discs &c. for bottles &c. have the openings or pores in the cork filled in by natural cork secured by a binder such as a mixture of albumen with glycerine and China-wood oil or corn oil. The filling, which may comprise granules of cork coated with the adhesive binder, is spread over the surface of the disc, or the sheet from which the discs are to be cut, surplus material being subsequently wiped off. To allow for the varying sizes of the pores, several applications are made, each with granules smaller than those of the preceding applications.
