Abstract

A joint enclosure for optical fibre cables comprises a support structure having a base portion (12) formed with cable entry ports (14) and an upright projection formed with outwardly-facing platforms (18, 20, 24, 26) for receiving optical fibre splice trays (30). The upright projection comprises two longitudinal portions (16, 22) separated by a slot (70) in which loops of excess optical fibre can be stored. The splice trays (30) are mounted back-to-back on opposite sides of, and are inclined to the longitudinal axis of, the upright projection (16, 22). <IMAGE>
