Abstract

225,398. Hill, R., and Beck, Ltd., R. & J. Dec. 20, 1923. Lenses.-Photographic lenses for taking views subtending large angles, i.e. exceeding 125‹, consist of divergent meniscus lens a having a convex surface towards the object and a deeply concave back surface. This lens is combined with a positive lens system c, d for the production of an image on the photographic plate e. The majority of the total reduction in the angle of view produced by the entire system takes place before the light reaches the diaphragm b between the lenses. The distorted image produced on the plate e by the system is approximately equivalent to stereographic or equidistant projection. Numerical data are given in the Specification.
