Abstract
224,998. Moore, A. Sept. 21, 1923. Pianoforte pedals.-An adjustable pivot for a pianoforte pedal consists of an attachment bracket 1, Fig. 2, having an inwardly projecting bearing 7 at one, side which engages an opening in the end of the pedal, a threaded pin 8 passing through the bearing 7 and through the end of the pedal 4, and a coned bearing 9 screwing on the pin 8 and engaging the other end of the opening through the pedal. The bearing 9 may have a square &c. head protected by a lip 2<a> on the bracket. In a modification, a second fixed bearing 7 replaces the screwed bearing 9, a nut screwing on the end of the pin 8. In another modification, screwed bearings 9 are used at each end of the pin 8. The side cheeks of the pedal end may be formed of two forked tines 3 curved over as shown in Fig. 4, a separate drilling operation being unnecessary. According to the second Provisional Specification, when the tines 3 are being curved over, their ends may be left spaced from the face of the pedal; or slots may be formed in the lugs 2 leading to the pivot centres, to facilitate assembly. Also the solid end of the pedal may be curved over instead of first forming tines.
