Abstract
224,385. Marsh, E. W. Nov. 17, 1923. Burring-apparatus.-Means for removing the collected burrs from the trough 3 on a carding- engine comprises a blade 10 carried by an arm 5 pivotally mounted on a transverse rod 4. The arm 5 is provided with teeth 6, 8 which can engage screws 7, 9 respectively and cause the blade 10 to be traversed, in one direction across the machine. A projection 14 on the arm 5 engages a bar 12 when the tooth 6 engages the screw 7. When the arm reaches the end of the screw it is lifted by a cam 15 until the tooth 8 engages the screw 9. At the same time the arm 5 moves through a slot in the bar 12 until a second projection 13 engages its rear face and holds the arm in a raised position with the blade. 10 inoparative as it is traversed back across the machine. At the other end of the machine the arm 5 falls forward through a slot in the bar 12 and the tooth 6 engages again with the screw 7. The screws may be of different pitch to give a quick return.
